Please be patient. They are working on sorting out how we can sign in and how they can integrate betpoints functionality. Betpoints are a very important part of the new status system where the amount of points you have can and will finally get you some respect around here (and maybe some additional perks if you know what I mean,) as many have been requesting for years.

This all is of course, as you know, due to the emerging US regulated betting landscape.

But you may also be happy to know they are rumored to be committed to possibly looking into trying to hold one or even multiple contests here even this very year. And if you're worried about not being able to renew your Pro membership, fear not because they already said recently that you will still be able to purchase a renewal.

Well they also said we'll get the points through contributions so there is correlation there still. Just imagine being able to walk around here saying "you can't talk to me like that; i'm a 5000 point man" or "watch your tone buddy...I got 10,000 point status." I anticipate that it will be quite the thrill.

I believe this is why it is taking so long to unveil the new platform. Structuring the tier status for points accumulated is a very complicating process. Major attorneys have been involved reviewing the fine print of the tier structuring system the new owners want to impliment.

I just got the renewal notice for 1 month . I do not see the point at the moment people keep leaving and points are worthless . I will stick around but with points being worthless until something changes there is no difference in being a Pro vs Non pro. i am with you. week after week with nothing resolved. at some point someone needs to answer and i don't mean andy or another mod. patience only goes so far. being told things are coming only goes so far.

They can live off the reputation and traffic already established for a while but I hope they see those things are waning fast and hard and even trending towards the negative end of the spectrum in the reputation department.

I hope this place is not destroyed completely but the cringey thought of someone going "wow, we dont need to give anyone anything and we still get some clicks. we're geniuses!" is a little too real in these relatively early stages of potential extreme decline.

I bolded the main point if this is too long to read but...

Fortunately (maybe) for us SBR fans, though posting, pride, consumer confidence and truthful administrative announcements are down immensely, success built on the backs of the betpoints, forum and work of the old administration will continue to carry some weight for a while since they were such a monstrous juggernaut in the space. It will take some time for the site's full momentum/prestige to become nothing, especially with the one guy still occasionally responding seeming to potentially be an SEO guy himself (aka someone who can do at least something with the remaining traffic, high domain authority and hundreds of thousands to millions of backlinks this site has.)

Most estimates have them between 100k to 400k visitors per month still in organic traffic (just people searching sports stuff, gambling stuff or sbr specifically or just coming to the URL directly) While 100k monthly visitors is down from the 800k of 2 years ago, some dropoff could have possibly been anticipated even naturally from the pandemic traffic spike, and that is still enough to get them some sportsbook referrals.

It will or may look to them like doing and offering nothing is profitable or preferable compared to the cost of keeping site patronage desirable and it may continue to seem like a good idea due to the altitude of the height from which they would have to hypothetically fall to reach complete obscurity, and it may seem that way to them for a while until it is too late to course-correct.

So in conclusion, I would be very surprised if "we might be awesome enough to stiff everyone and get away with it" didn't at least cross someone's mind, unfortunately. Much of this is just conjecture and speculation, of course.

My two cents, for what it's worth - and trust me, even after accounting for inflation, it's worth less than that.

Bet points were great, but with free stuff, while rewarding loyal posters, also invites a free crowd. Think semi-star athlete signing 100 mil contract over night. As we've seen with athletes, that biz model is unsustainable - at some point, you go bust. What's the best way to cull that crowd? Take away the easy free stuff.

The guys/gals that appreciate the product, will stay, because their incentives aren't based solely on the free stuff. That's why, to me, the tier system that Andy references does make some sense. Sure, communication could be better, but I'd imagine they are also trying to cut costs, and fat, on the back-end - think Twitter.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I'm coming back more than ever, and it's not for the free stuff. I don't have to sift through pages of garbage to get to good content - both sports, and non-sports related. At a time when confidence in every aspect of main stream media is at a historic low, it's nice to have a site where I recognize the majority of posters and can get real life thoughts. And whether they fit with my worldview or not, I still appreciate the input, and the banter - it's what America was built on...healthy discourse. God Bless!

I do not understand how their business plan works. It's been 16 months since new ownership took over and the only accomplishment so far is gutting everything that was good and fun and losing 99% of their customers.

I joined up about 10 months after you illini, I feel the same about sticking around, not sure about whats to come, and certainly not as confident as you about things returning to the way they were.

Well we had to pay to be able to use betpoints; SBRPRO memberships cost $100 or donations or potentially lucrative referrals etc so i'm not sure free is the right word. But I do agree that it would be really unfair if they weren't allowed to have an evaluation regarding when the perks and promotions were too much or unsustainable or ways that they could handle them more optimally. I'm sure it is a whole different game without the extra offshore kickbacks.

Hoping optimistically for the best here too, whatever that looks like (regardless of the disappointments, lies or silence.)

This betpoint program really helped me out through some periods when I would be persuaded to take a break from betting for real and I could still bet points for some degenerate methadone to stay on the straight and narrow and have a little fun. Far from the end of the world though for sure.
