Not only that I read XFL's ratings were poor and Daytona's ratings were just OK.

If it's not NFL on the weekends, people just don't watch winter sports.
CBS is counting on March Madness, those ratings are always solid.

NBA is just not watchable.

A second league with different rules would kill it.
