First off I'm in a bit of a funk lately, 2- 5 across my last seven.
Usually unranked home teams pay me off, lately, babkas.
Butler's pretty much a mediocre 14-15 team playing in a brutal league.
Marquette is sixth ranked in the nation, wraps up the Big East league title with a 'W' here.
Betting line is 8.5 total is 141.
This game is killing me.
Like I said, I do like the home dog vs. ranked visitor angle, but that's not been paying me off lately.
I'm looking at the six February games Butler has played, all Big East games, and if you throw out that miserable home loss to the Hoyas, I'm sorry, a home loss to Georgetown is inexcusable, Butler has been extremely competitive in the other five February games.
2/4 - The first Marquette game, lose on the road to them 60-52.
Very respectable loss. if a loss can be respectable?
Rematch tonight.
2/7 - Knocks off St. John's in a thriller.
2/10 - Upsets #14 Xavier by eight, extremely impressive win.
2/14 - Loses to 'Nova, in 'Nova, not a shameful road loss at all
2/19 - Brain fart awful loss at home to Georgetown.
2/22 - Knocks off DePaul on the road by a point.
Overall, a pretty nice February.
No need to run down the Big East Beast Marquette.
Won five straight from Dec-Jan, than a tough loss to Xavier.
Then won five straight again from Jan-Feb. than got bitch slapped by UConn.
Currently on a four game win streak, I'm seeing a consistent pattern/trend here, even though trend betting is not always profitable.
A Marquette win, they lock up the Big East regular season title, so they're playing with a purpose here. If Butler does pull off the home upset, I don't see them losing to St. John's Saturday.
Butler is locked in to a 8/9 game with St. John's regardless of tonight's outcome, even if they lose the last game Saturday to Xavier, which is likely.
That's a brutal final two games, Xavier and Marquette.
Butler, outside of pride has no agenda tonight.
Is it Senior night there? Not sure.
The 141 total is equally frustrating.
Your typical Butler game as of late is like 68-66, Marquette is like 81-71.
I did the math, no edge on a razor sharp line.
I'm inclined to take the home dog.
Thoughts?
