Great wrestler. From the mid 60s to the late 90s Funk was an icon of wrestling. Apparently he had been suffering from dementia for a while. I'm sure all the chair shots to the head didn't help. RIP.

RIP Terry Funk...Definitely an OG iconic wrestler from the 70's - 80's that helped put the WCW, NWA, and the other professional wrestling territories on the map. A lot of people forget back in those days they didn't have mats outside of the ring!...when your ass got thrown out of the ring you landed on the hard concrete floor! much respect to the old school wrestlers!
Anyone that was an old school wrestling fan has probably heard of Bill Apter. He was a writer and photographer for many wrestling magazines in the 1970s-90s most notably Pro Wrestling Illustrated. He also had some segments on television. Anyhow, he usually has heartfelt tributes to fallen wrestlers on his Youtube channel. Here is what he had to say about Funk..
Somehow being wrong about wrestling trivia isn’t like missing a jeopardy question….
but I DO know Iron Shieks boots were “loaded” when he faced bob backlund….
So was Sensational Shari's purse when Hogan walloped Zeus upside his head in SummerSlam of '89! Jesse "The Body" Ventura was a heel announcer doing the ringside commentary! Funny as shit with him screaming "HOGAN'S GOT A FOREIGN OBJECT!!!" LMAO!
Gotta look jacked for starters if you want to increase your status and increase your pay in the WWE back then. Bigger and more jacked the better!
Gotta heal up quick also for the next venue after getting slammed on your back and head and roids help with that. Needless to say most of them partied like rock stars also.
Didn’t he carry around a branding iron or something I remember with him and junk yard dog? I think he branded the dog can’t remember and one time the dog got him. That was the shit back then made it look so real.
