    Acuna Jr
30 HR’s/60 SB’s first time MLB history. He is fun to watch and a great player. I hope we get more of the Braves/Dodgers come playoff time.

Do you realize how hard is this to do? Because every HR he hits is a lost at bat to get a stolen base.

Correct. That’s why I made the thread. He’s unbelievable.

            It's an incredible accomplishment.
Just as impressive is Acuna is going to have a .300/.400/.500/1.000 season

Acuna is this generations Ricky Henderson with a better batting average.

In 2012 Mike Trout hit 30 HR and stole 49 bases in 139 games played.
If Trout played 160 games he probably would have hit maybe 34 HR's and stole maybe 56 basses, max.

Acuna's slash line for his six year career is .290/.380/.529
Tout's slash line for his 13 year career is .301/.412/.582

Braves are on pace to have five players to hit 30 HR's, only other team to have five players to hit 30HR's in a season are the 2019 Twins.

Braves are on pace also to tie or surpass the 2019 Twins for most HR's hit by a team in a season.
Twins hit 307 HR's in 2019, Braves are currently on a 307.8 pace.

No disengagements rule that year for Trout. Bases weren’t bigger either. Sb are WAY UP this year. Those rules have everything to do with it including the pitch clock. The pitcher can’t hold the ball and must throw or run out of time. I’ve seen countless steals of 3rd this year with no throws. Never seen so many in my life up to this year. I wonder if that stat were recorded what it would be?

Im not taking anything away from his accomplishment, but stealing bases has turned into a joke with these new rules. It’s a free for all. They need to pull back on some of this. The easy steal is ruining the game immho.

They disabled the shift too. Put an asterisk by all steals this year in the record books. In fact throw all stats down the toilet since the steroid era. It’s impossible to compare different eras before expansion too and 5th starters with 8 eras rolling all year

Disabling the shift is a travesty.

If you're a professional, especially a professional at the highest level, the MLB level, then you should be able to hit the ball from foul pole to foul foul pole, with the possible exception on an elite power hitter than croaks forty plus dingers a season consistently.

It diminishes most of the strategy, it pretty much eliminates the finer points of the game, like the art of the hit and run for instance.
Besides 'America's Pastime', MLB used to be called 'the thinking mans game'
By some of these inane rule changes Manfred has taken most of the the thinking along with the manager away from the fan.

I'm convinced Rob Manfred is the most inept commissioner in the history of not just the four major pro sports (MLB, NHL, NBA, and NFL) but all of the pro sports, that includes soccer, and PGA, and that's a pretty strong statement considering Jay Monahan is next level clueless as well.

Manfred is spineless, he crumbled like a fortune cookie when some of the players whined that they can't hit with three infielders on the same side of the field, to which I say, " tough shit, if you are a dead pull hitter that can't or refuse to hit to the opposite field then you should be sent down to the instructional league and learn how to hit 'em where they're not"

What makes Manfred doubly inept it he refuses to market his sport.
He thinks MLB is still living in the 50's when baseball was king.

The game sold itself when Mantle, and Mays, and Teddy Ballgame played, the beer companies and auto companies were all tripping over themselves for a piece of Mantle and Maris, and the rest, there was no cable TV back then, there was nothing to compete against MLB back in the day, the NFL was in in infancy, like I said there was no need to market the game back then, the game sold itself.

Adapt or die, David Stern learned that lesson forty years ago when his NBA was inches away from going belly up.
Stern and the rest of his office and later Silver later on started to market Bird, and Jordan, and Magic ... and by now you know the rest of the story, the NBA is a global multi gazillion dollar business.

Say what you want about Goodell, and God knows I say a lot, he's evil, he'll sell his first born just to not have to postpone an NFL game, say what you want, but Goodell is a master marketer, he single handedly made the league a global gazillion dollar industry.

Goodell lines the owners pockets with beau coup money, the billionaire owners genuflect to Goodell everytime he walks into the room.

Is Manfred not paying attention to what the other commissioners are doing with their leagues?
He's got a gold mine of talent and teams to market, guys like Ohtani, Judge, Acuna Jr, Mookie and on and on, teams like the Dodgers and the Braves...

If Manfred refuses to market his product, MLB will always be a regional sport with mediocre at best ratings.

I don't blame him being open to new ideas on the contrary. Baseball has been stuck on the same problems forever. I agree with speeding the game up. The pitch clock is really the only way unless you want to go to 3 balls a walk and 2 strikes you're out. I think they should be allowed more disengagements (atleast 1 more maybe 2), and put the bases back to the way they were. That's ridiculous to me to have bigger bases. WTF? I would also make the pitch clock 25 sec.

The 162 games is tough to market though too. That's a long long season. Cut it down to 120 games. The shift should of stayed I agree 100%. I think they should've tried all these new rules and new ideas in Spring Training and minors for several years before doing this. To just bounce this right in like this was a bad move.

Ultimately, I like the idea of speeding up the game but I think they need to reverse thee above.

Do you really think MLB brass would even consider this? They would lose 100's of millions in advertising dollars. That's were the money comes from, not people in the stands.
Ever see a Detroit home game? you can count them on one hand. LOL

Do you really think MLB brass would even consider this? They would lose 100's of millions in advertising dollars. That's were the money comes from, not people in the stands.
Ever see a Detroit home game? you can count them on one hand. LOL
And , they're not the only ones.
Somewhere in that "ad" pipeline someone or some corporation is losing some major coin......period. 162 is too long of a season and people lose interest. But you are correct, the fans showing up means little to nothing for revenue. Sorry, but I still don't need to call Sam Bernstein law offices from a motorcycle accident or a slip and fall. I think that's 4 billion commercial slots this Tigers season so far. It sure makes you scratch your head what their ROI is from those commercials!
