Wow, damn, RIP. I didn't expect to read this at all. A few things:

1) Watched him on FRIENDS. I believe the witty Chandler character was based on his own personality. He did a similar skit on SNL.
2) Saw him in Vegas. He was walking with friend Bruce Willis. I can say that he KNEW all eyes were on him, as he looked fwd and kept walking.
3) I know he had personal demons. I believe alcohol and depression.

He talked publicly about Jennifer Aniston helping to save his life. If that's true, she was a great friend.

Can't believe he's gone b4 Bruce Willis. RIP, Matthew.

I know I "shouldn't" be that shocked because of his history of drug use, but I still am. Guy had just came out with his memoir about all the terrible stuff he went through, and from the many excerpts I read, it seemed like he was coming out the other side in a decent place. Damn. But I guess you never really know

That being said, cause of death seems to be drowning in a hot tub. No drugs found on the scene. And I read that whoever found him unresponsive said he'd just been playing pickleball 2 hours prior, so it doesn't seem like he would have had time to go on some huge bender? Might not have been drug related at all, or at least not directly

Heart attack or blood pressure related stuff can happen in jacuzzis that make people pass out and drown. Plenty of cases like that. The weakened heart would likely be due to all the past drug use, so it would still be indirectly related.

I'm just saying he might not have actually been high as a kite. I guess we'll find out eventually

anyone who is in a body of water of any kind whether a bathtub, hot tub, jacuzzi, pool, lake, ocean, what have you................

if that individual suffers cardiac arrest (the heart basically loses it's electrical impulses and suddenly stops beating) the brain dies in about 5 mins and the body dies in about 8 mins. it is often much quicker.

then the lifeless body sinks to the bottom of the water.

this happened to whitney houston in a bath tub.

so he might not have been on drugs and/or alcohol at the time of his passing, but there is little doubt that his numerous years of drug and alcohol weakened his body especially his heart.

if toxicology reports are done, i will be shocked if there were no drugs or alcohol in his body.

he went hard taking up to 55 pills a day at one point and put $9M towards rehab efforts.

very sad all around.

addiction is brutal.
