...If you can dropoff cards at a show in your area, you jump one of the loops.
...I like to check-in the cards, so they have proof of turning over to them.
That said, I have seen bad Customer Service. Have seen that from two grading companies.
Listen to what Jake says. Think he'll have better insight for you.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

Basically in short this is what you do:
Input all cards in your submission on PSA website and when finished print out the forms.
Put all cards penny sleeves and card saver 1 plastic sleeves. Then I put rubber band horizontally and vertically around the stack of card saver 1s. Then I cut out 2 pieces of cardboard to fit around the cards to protect them in transit and again put rubberbands horizontally and vertically around the cardboard cutouts so the cards are all snug and protected.
I use USPS priority fixed rate boxes to ship out...anything less than 30 cards or so I use the smallest one for $10-11. From the printed out PSA forms, I tape the bar code(from printed out forms) on the front of the box and PSA scans that when they receive it and you can see on the website that your submission has arrived and they have it in hand. Include PSA forms 1 and 2 inside the box with the cards. I also put some bubble wrap or something in the box so everything is snug and not moving around in transit.
I think that is pretty much it...good luck with your first submission!Comment -
#179Philly, I'll give my own opinion: *I prefer to do the Show dropoff.

However, do what makes you feel comfortable.
If I was sending in a Michael Jordan rookie or something, I would probably hand deliver it to them at a show or at their business address.Comment -
#180I forgot to mention, I also put the cards in the same order as I input them at PSA to make things easier on the grader.Comment -
#181Just bought a couple Mario rookies. Don't think I ever had the OPC rook b4.
Some of the prices on hi-end items are too low. Precursor to a recession? Collectors liquidating their items to pay for bills?
I spoke to a collector-friend of mine. He says that a lot of dealers are underwater to the tune of 60%+. IE, they might be holding $40,000 current market value on items they paid $100,000 for.
If you want a mid-grade Gretzky rookie, can find one for $1000 to $1200. This is too low (IMHO).
I scout out bargains on Holy Grail cards like:
*1969 Alcindor
*1979 Gretzky
*1980 Bird/Magic
...If the prices look too low to me, I'm not afraid to Buy.
Lebron cards are really cheap.Comment -

Sometimes even lower (like 20%). I've seen 1981 Magic Johnson cards sell for $100 recently. Same card was $600 at peak.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

See my post above. Unopened wax is really about the scarcity of the item. Not much of it survived, and every pack opened = one fewer pack unopened.
If you buy the case, you shouldn't open the packs. It's a hold, til you sell to the NEXT GUY.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -
#186A few other stats re: the 1979 case.
16 boxes * 48 packs/box * 14 cards/pack = 10,752 cards
396-card set.
E (# Gretzky pulls) = 27.2. Also, this is sometimes called a "one-card set." IE, the 2nd-best card = miles away from the Gretzky Rook.
Good Luck pulling a perfect card. The OPC rough cut always bothered me.
Props to the guy selling. Will be interested in seeing what price he lands.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -
#187You'll be lucky to get a psa 8 from any of them and the way psa grades now they will all be 4-6.
Obviously the guy won't be opening it.
You have to be stupid to do that or beyond rich.Comment -

Central Banker PLANNED Inflation. When it costs double for almost every food item at the grocery store the average Joe isn't thinking about buying sports cards.Comment -

Go back a few years. Look at the chart. PSA 8 was regularly selling for $700+.
I mentioned $100 as current price. It keeps dipping. Now selling in the $66 to $70 range.
That's a 90% dip, more than even I thought. Has to be a sign of recession. Assets price dipping, housing prices next?Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -
#198Here's the card I was referencing. Magic in a PSA 8:

The pop is really high.
It will never go back to those prices ever.Comment -

Recession? Playoffs? Playoffs? Recession? More like a depression coming. Russia just completed about 85% of its monthly trades in other currencies than the dollar where before it was likely all dollars. The USD will no longer be the world reserve currency unless they destroy Russia which likely destroys the US too. Get ready for the ride. Tell Homey187 - that he can't eat cardboard, or his stock certificates......and if he shows up on my land.......well you know the rest he will be fed lead and knuckle sandwiches and I can at least add mustard to it.Comment -

#206I'll be attending shows in coming months. Will be interested to see if anyone is selling at liquidation prices.
I mentioned the massive dip in many card-prices. Dealers are underwater, they don't like lowering prices. 98% of the prices I see at shows are too high.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -
