Game swung on the punt return gaffe by the Niners. SF maintained the momentum up until that point and then they gave KC life.

Agreed. SF needed to go for it on 4th down there and go for the TD and win in OT. KC would have had the ball inside the 10 yard line even if SF didn't score.

That was game over and a poor coaching decision in my view to kick the FG. Can't give the Chiefs the ball back for the game winning drive period.

Yeah they got 6 yards on first down too. You can't go from 2nd and 4 to kicking a field goal that deep in your opponent's territory when Mahomes is on the other sideline licking his chops.

Plus why the hell didn't they defer in OT? They obviously would've had the advantage of knowing whether or not it's four down territory if they touch the ball second.

Many ifs. SF was in control but didn't go for the win in the end. Got cute with the FG.

That wasn't like the SF coach either doing what he did. He got cautious and his man balls shriveled up. Nothing more to be said. SF lost..

Well it's not like going for it on 4th and 4 is a no-brainer. It's really tough to pass on points there, even if it is against the Chiefs... But not deferring after winning the toss in OT doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You could've known you had to go for it rather than guess.

thank God for that SF special teams goof which turned into a turnover and short field for KC because the game was boring as hell up until that point in time... soon as that happened I was hyped for the rest of the game
