#2What's going on down there in 'Bama?
Last July the Alabama baseball coach was mixed up in betting on the games, now UAB is mixed up somehow in suspicious activity.
I wonder if the Dixie Mafia is involved?
This shouldn't be a shocker to anybody.
The mobsters up there in Ohio and Michigan have been fixing MAC football for years.
Shit, my granddaddy can tell you all about how CCNY shaved points in 1951.
Here we are, almost 75 years later.Comment -
#3I'd be more surprised if there wasn't questionable betting on a game.Comment -

#6I said this the other day on the UAB-Memphis game. Check that Nash.

#7Looks like too much word got out. What was the final tally? Nevermind, I'll stop being lazy and look myself. Hmm 100 - 72, a total blowout.
Was there any reason for the line movement like someone on Temple had a leg fall off or something, or are they just cashing a giant check from a booster club member?Comment -

#9They r still investigating the point shaving up in Boston…Comment -
#10Back in February the line on Memphis temple in Philly went from like 5 to 10, no back and forth or anything. It’s not a UAB thing as much as it is a temple thing, methinks. They are absolute dogshit.Comment -

Now they're a just another crappy mid major.
Owls haven't won shit in five years, last time they were in the tournament they got bounced by Belmont in the first round.
They are quite possibly the worst team in Philly's Big Five.
Drexel won 21 games and they're a pharmacy school for the love of God.
The only thing worse than Temple basketball is Temple football.Comment -

#13These suspicions are why many jurisdictions do not allow their books to offer betting on amateur sport.
Even if it is not true, it puts a real smear on leagues too easily when it's junior or amateur sport involved..Comment -

#16Ya I mean a steep line move doesn’t usually make news Nash
not like a kid cracked

#17Looks to me like somebody acquainted with one of the players or coaches is aware of a downcast locker room and/or that the players don't give a shit and is taking advantage, which is presumably legal.Comment -

#19I made some money in college fading my college football team when I saw them out clubbing at 2am the night before.Comment -
#20Ironic you should bring this up.
Sunday morning, I was listening to a couple of podcasts from hosts I totally respect, they were both saying how some sharps were pounding Temple that game, reason being there'll be a lot of watchdogs keeping a very close eye on Temple in light of the recent controversy and that Temple will play that game straight up.
Sure as shit, they were correct.Comment -
#21Ex-Vanderbilt QB Mo Hasan Says Mobsters Offered $300K to Fix Games
Former Vanderbilt quarterback Mo Hasan said he once was approached by a member of the Italian Mafia and offered a lump sum of money to throw games during his playing days in the SEC.
“I was approached at Jason Aldean’s bar in Nashville by the Italian mob to fix football games,” Hasan said on his Momentum podcast in February.
Hasan went on to explain that while he was separated from his friend group, a man who knew who he was approached him at the bar and offered him $300,000 to throw football games while implying he already had similar arrangements with Alabama players.
“He said, ‘We regularly talk to guys in your position about fixing games,’” Hasan continued. “He named guys in the SEC, who I don’t wanna say their names, because they’re in the NFL right now, and that’s a bad look. But the University of Alabama … He said almost every game in the SEC is rigged.”

My nephew went to Akron for sports communications.
He tells me the MAC games are routinely rigged by the Toledo/Detroit mafia.
I totally believe him since this wasn't the first time I've heard that.Comment -
#23I won't name names but when I was growing up there was an Italian guy that owned the local bowling alley. He also ran a huge bookmaking operation. He had 2 daughters. One was married to the former starting QB of a power 5 school and the other to one of the leading scorers in the ACC (bball). Both of these guys played in the early 1960's. At the time hanging around the bowling alley it never seemed odd. But as I got older I was like hmmm.Comment -
#24With the crazy things that happen in MAC games, especially weeknight MACTION football, I have no doubt that's true!Comment -
