Netflix just got WWE Raw starting in 2015 and as Vince McMahon would say, “I guar-damn-tee!” Prices are going up.

On top of the stadium or arena your tax dollar paid for.

I just don't get it. Baseball allegedly has the highest TV pay package but according to the latest data the current viewership is at a record low. How is this good for business?

162 games. Baseball has low per game viewership but there are so many games it drives the total value up. Hard to argue what you are saying though- who is buying this stuff?

As someone with a media/advertising business I will tell you primetime and live sports are the two places to find viewers but ultimately we look at it on a game by game basis. It’s not smart or strategic to blindly buy every game but there are many sucker advertisers. Political years are also cash cows and those are every two years. Streaming/digital rules the media landscape. I just don’t get why these networks keep paying this shit up front. They always get desperate mid season.

Still doesn't make sense money-wise. Are these new options such as AppleTV, AmazonTV, and what-have-you really making money when they have let's say 1/10 of the viewership? Who would want to put commercials on a network that has less eyeballs but probably costs more?

Streaming services are over paying for the content with the belief they will get more users to convert/sign up for their services because of it. It’s why they continue to dump millions into any content they can find… mostly shit content. It’s all kind of a “pick me pick me!” mentality. Similar to what DirectTV did years ago with NFL. They immediately then try to charge a premium for the ad/impressions on the promise that it’s a more targeted impression based on consumer profiles/behavior. Not saying it’s perfect or even worth it but advertisers do pay it. Do they make money? Man… I don’t know, they may look at it as a cost per acquisition. It’s all a market share battle. I think most are losing their asses.

Other than my MLB package, I'm starting to harken back to my habits of the 80s. If there is something good on that the networks are offering, I'll watch it. If not, I'll find something to do outside and read about it tomorrow.

Any one of the nine Dick Wolf crime dramas that are on from Tues-Thus. works just fine for me.
Chicago PD is the best crime drama I've ever seen, and I've seen them all.

I think FBI International has gone downhill. They had a good cast to start now they added that hot blonde the leader does a few undercover jobs but other then that he is nonexistent! It is almost to much like the regular Fbi.

I watch FD, PD, FBI, and FBI Most Wanted.
Thurs. I watch L&O, and L&O Organized crime.

I never got into SVU, and Med, Med because that's not in my wheelhouse, but it's still quality.
Yeah, I never got into International that much, I have a problem with FBI in Belgium.

I've seen every episode of PD, every season, and I've been watching L&O the original since I was in HS.

You should check SVU with Stabler’s seasons. At least that ties into OC. Those seasons were great as it was a nice balance between Stabler on one side and that lady (going blank on her name) on another side. More on the police procedural than court as opposed to the original L&O.

NBA tv rights update (no streamers in the future):

ESPN, Warner Bros. Discovery and the NBA made more progress during their exclusive negotiating window than initially thought and as of Monday were close to a handshake agreement on a new media rights deal, John Ourand of Puck reported Monday. In addition, per Austin Karp of Sports Business Journal and Joe Flint of the Wall Street Journal, both ESPN and WBD are able under the existing contract to match any deal the NBA reaches with a third party like Amazon or Comcast. The NBA’s exclusive negotiating window with ESPN and WBD lapsed Monday and the league is now free to talk with other companies.
