On a scale of 1 to 10, how much is this going to suck?

A few sequels are decent. Most are quite bad. This one has a chance to set a new standard for BAD.

Any time they pump a movie up it means it’s a dog. Great movies don’t need to be advertised. Word of mouth does the talking.

A few years ago, pre-Covid, there were talks about “revision” or “remake” Scarface but I’ve never heard about a sequel. The remake would’ve been an illegal immigrant from Mexico and climbing up the drug trade ladder in California. Which would be in the same vain as the original 1930s version (Italian immigrant - NY) and the 1980s version (Cuban immigrant - Florida) and now Mexican immigrant- Cal.

However, we’re talking about Hollywood who has destroyed MCU and Star Wars. Do you really have faith they can successfully do another remake of Scarface? Btw 1980s Scarface was a box office flop but later in home video became a “cult classic.”

Remember the last movie that bombed in the box office and became a “cult classic” that later had a horrible sequel… Blade Runner.

I loved it, it was one of those few gangster films you could rewatch. Most aren't that interesting as far as depth.

Al was so good in that role. He really got into it. Played it perfectly.

Stephen Bauer was born in Cuba. So, his accent was authentic. He was great as the sidekick.

I used to watch that movie on rotation. As you say, it was so good.

Great acting, and a compelling story. And the quotes are probably the most memorable from any movie.

It really spoke to Al Pacino's acting skill, when you realize it's the same guy that played Michael Corleone in the Godfather. Two complete polar opposites. And he did them both very well. It was a shame that they killed him off at the end of Scarface. You kindoff wanted to see Tony win the war against Sosa.

Detach it entirely from the first film only way you can get die hards to watch it. The original Scarface from the 30's ive actually seen that film lol! and it's very different from the 83 film.
