Trying So Hard... and I seem to fail on college basketball...

I am running two systems simultaneously trying to find and edge...

One system produces a significant more bets... specifically under bets. Over the past two seasons it produced close to 700 under bets at a hit ratio of 59%+ rate. That doesn't take into account OT because I don't model it that way. So I figure I might lose 1-2% because of that but I would still be north of 57%.

So I checked to see how my entire system was doing since Feb 1st. It hit 53.3%. The under bets were 47.5% and that doesn't account for any games that went into OT.

If I use my second model... I hit 62% but it didn't bet many games. It wouldn't have picked any games yesterday. I am not just trying to chase the numbers.

I am trying to create a model that diversifies risk... produces enough bets... and delivers results. I can't tell if I am close or so far away that it isn't worth talking about.

Just Venting... I am snowed in and really want this model to work.

Well.... Houston we have a problem... major problem... sorry

So the Prairie View game made me twitch. It turns out the bet won but the bet didn't make sense to me. So I believe the reason I will be successful is because I'm honest and fair. If I deserve to win... I know it... If I deserve to lose I know. If I get lucky or unlucky I also treat it fairly.

Here is the problem. My previous website that I gathered stats from went out of business... no longer exists. I was ready to go August 1st with all of my 4 programs. Then I went to download and again the site no longer existed.

I migrated to a new site. It seemed to work... was painful at first but I over came the pain.

With regards to college basketball ... I used this site and transcribed the link from the betting website name to the stats name. I don't know what happened. Maybe, some of the stats names changed from 2023-24 season to this season. For instance AR Little Rock became Little Rock... I know this may seem like a small change but my entire stat model was linked to the name.

I locked in the list of names but I locked in the previous years version of the name. AR Little Rock... a change occurred and I didn't catch it. It was now Little Rock... and it happened on 30% of the college basketball names.

Did the site change names mid-season? I don't know. Did I build the program in September and not adjust for the new names the site was using possibly. Maybe they change the names often... I don't know.

Bottom line is all of my 2024-2025 stats and data analysis is in question. Not just the bets. I have the wrong stats for the wrong teams. So I have a choice to recreate the season from scratch in May, June, and July and then try to come up with algorithms which is going to take me an ungodly amount of time or toss out the season.

Bottom line Miss Valley State matchup was given the statistics of Missouri... and that wasn't the only game that was affected... I had the wrong stats for about 30% of the teams. And if you think they play other teams... I may have had the wrong stats for 50% of the games or more in 2024-25.

P.S. I almost broke my computer when I found the error. Instead, ... I just yelled. I lost 120 days of effort and analysis. None of my time spent was worth anything because the data was all wrong.

So I contacted the website... where I get my stats... they changed the names

of 92 college basketball teams on Monday 2/23. Now why they didn't wait until the end of the season is beyond me. They sent me a nice e-mail even highlighting which teams where changed.

So, my data from 2024-2025 is pure up until that date. 2/23 is the only day affected since I caught it that day.

I ran my picks with the new nomenclature and there were no picks on 2/24.

I was a little miffed at the pick because they are 5-23 but that isn't exactly the same as the Prarie View game that I had winning by 7 when they were a 17 point underdog.
