(Coll FB) Will Belichick fail at UNC?
    1) He's gonna have to talk to players differently. Can't ride em the same way (as NFL players).

    2) Coll players now get paid. And they'll move @ a whim, if they don't like it.

    3) He's one year younger than Brown. Can't see it working out.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

Well your opinion on the matter was revealed before even opening the thread because you framed the question in a negative light, when a more common default title would've been "Will Belichick succeed at UNC?"

It's funny how you're quick to shit on one of the most accomplished coaches in the history of the sport, but fawn over the biggest losing gambler this site has ever seen and white knight on his behalf anytime he endures a hint of criticism.

I honestly wonder if he can stay out of trouble. The guy was caught cheating all the time and the NFL just slapped his wrist. I wouldn't be surprised if UNC isn't under sanctions within a few years. He will do anything to gain an advantage. Whether it is within the rules or not.

Talk to them different? Not sure if serious. These college coaches treat their players like absolute garbage and have for decades. They are pawns and disposable. There is zero doubt you can say a lot more offensive shit to them than you could to a grown ass man who has already made his nut paycheck in the NFL. His players will be drooling over him due to his experience and NFL connections. Fairly certain he could crap on the floor and there would be a scrum as to who gets to eat it first. College players do indeed get paid now, and UNC has a lot of alumni money. Bringing in Bill is an instant atm machine for them, they can buy players MLB style now because they have a top tier coach, top tier campus, and quality weather. The move was brilliant for both parties. If prime can bring that much money and attention to lonely Colorado, Bill will take it to a whole other level, minus the flare.

We will have to define success and failure. I don’t have an opinion either way other than I’m surprised he took this job in particular. I know the history, still surprised. Money talks.

I am not necessarily surprised he took the job. I mean I hear people say he isn't going to do well and he can't recruit with other schools. I disagree there and recruiting isn't as important anymore in my mind. CFB is basically the NFL now. Transfer portal is free agency so it isn't going to be a big change like it would have been say 5 years ago. Hell most coaches end up with a new team every season because it seems like half of every team goes into the the portal every season. And Bill is good at bending the rules to ensure success.

They'll probably be around .500 like they have been the last four years, he'll do nothing of note.

Agreed on the portal and roster movement in college. It’s hard to even keep track of rosters now. You see a guy you like somewhere else, contact him, order and grab em in the portal. You can raid the portal annually for the right price. Bill will find a way to bend the rules. What I’m surprised by is his ego letting him take a college job but at $10 million a year… fukk it

I'm actually STUNNED that he didn't land an NFL job. I would have guessed two options:

                      1) Pick up an NFL job for 2024 or 2025 (after sitting out a year).
                      2) Become a full-time NFL analyst. And make some of the easiest bank imaginable.

I would have never thought that he takes a college gig. He has to really enjoy coaching to take a college HC job @his age.

Chucky, based on his player personnel decisions the last 5 years or so in New England, I do not think any NFL team wanted to give him full power to draft/construct the roster. That might have been the sticking point. In college, he can still be a czar and do everything his way.

Makes sense, Jake. Go back to the Kraft story. Kraft supposedly told ATL to not hire Bill B, b/c he would be a problem.

You make a very good point. Maybe he lost his touch on selecting players. And his W-L record is not impressive, after you extract the Tom Brady years.
