Going to wait on official line ups. Yesterday , several managers used the games to assess young talent. Somehow , Germany upset Italy while using a number of young call ups. Too unpredictable
It all depends on what sort of line up Poland put out. If they play 6 - 8 regulars , Lithuania will be chasing shadows all game.
They should be playing regulars but most of those regulars aren't good anyway.
Lithuania is obviously terrible and in reality it should be 4-1 but team chemistry is weak and coaching/tactics are mediocre. Always struggling for goals.
Europe Nations Cup Playoffs ( 2nd legs ) return to action today.........
Germany vs Italy ( 2 - 1 )
France vs Croatia ( 0 - 2 )
Portugal vs Denmark ( 0 - 1 )
Spain vs Netherlands ( 2 - 2 )
Germany used a number of young players in the 1st leg , in part to replace injured players , and giving cameos to others. The tide has shifted between these 2 old rivals , as Germany are undefeated in the past 7 head to head competitions ( 3 wins 4 draws ). Starting line ups pending , Lean to Germany
France sat a number of starters back in Croatia , so the result wasnt as surprising as it seemed. I look for coach Deschamp to insert players like Konate , Barcola , Camavinga and Olise, to make a genuine attempt to reverse the 2 goal deficit.
Portugal coach Martinez seems set on rewarding the " Old boys Club " for past accomplishments. Ronaldo @ age 40 is a liability on the defensive side of the ball , and nowhere near the offensive threat he once was many years ago. Fernandes playing central midfield over Vitinha was another foolish choice by Martinez , since he is hard pressed to getting a starting role with lowly Man U. Portugal all day long with the appropriate changes in place.
Spain are heads and tails better then the Dutch side available to coach Koeman at the moment. Awaiting the line ups before backing Spain on home soil today. Its a very different situation playing in front of 80,000 orange shirted fans and hoping for a result.
Holland showed that they can score Pk's. Spain has to figure out how to hold a lead ( had it 3 times in that game ). Sill , they are the defending European Champs for a reason.
Germany subbed too early in that game and it almost cost them
Portugal got the scoring boots going eventually
Good soccer overall. The Semi's should be entertaining

Spain would have lost the first leg if not for a soft red.
Lucky late equalizer
They are very beatable.
All these teams are coin flips.

No arguement when you say " All these teams are coin flips ". That was the point i was trying make earlier. Spain are the present European Champions ( #3 in FIFA rankings ), Netherlands are #7 in FIFA rankings. When you start off a sentence with " Spain is overrated ", you already lose me. This Nations League has finally picked up in the knockout games. As you said , its been great to watch and there isnt a whole lot between any of these teams.
Liverpool vs PSG was another great match up. Im a huge Pool fan but i know that PSG were the far better team in that series. To say that " the books were handing out gifts "after that 1st leg in Paris , was anything but. The possession was 72% for PSG and the shots were 27 - 2 for PSG...... They went into Liverpool and deserved the win and advancement. The guy who impressed me the most in the entire knockout stage was Vintinha in the PSG midfield. He his so underrated imo. The guy sees the game develop and anticipates so well , he reminds me of Andres Iniesta ( One of the greatest midfielders to ever play the game ).
Soccer is very subjective , but it will always be THE GREATEST GAME ON THE PLANET
Argentina vs Brazil tonight. Raphinha talking shit. Brazil looks like they turned the campaign around but this will probably end in a tie. I'm hoping Argentina beat them though.
