    Vinatieri misses HOF
(See Career Stats Below) Nothing against those that got in, but got to be a no-brainer soon, no?

New England Patriots legendary kicker Adam Vinatieri will haveto wait to be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall Fame. As the 2025 class wasannounced, Vinatieri learned he will not be among those elected, moving hisnext opportunity to next year.
Those elected were wide receiver Sterling Sharpe, tight end Antonio Gate, defensiveend Jared Allen and cornerback Eric Allen.
Vinatieri arrived in New England in 1996 and stayed with the Patriots until 2005. A three-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, Vinatieri won three Super Bowls with the Patriots and led the NFL in points in 2004.
Once his career with the Patriots ended, Vinatieri joined the Indianapolis Colts, where he'd the last 14 years of his NFL career before announcing his retirementin 2021. He'd go on to win another Super Bowl, the fourth of his career, andend his time in the NFL with a lengthy list of records.
In his 24 years in the NFL, Vinatieri set records for most career points scored(2,673), most consecutive field goals (44), most combined regular season andpostseason points (397), most career field goals made (599), most career fieldgoals attempted (715), most career seasons with 100-plus points (21), mostcareer overtime field goals (11), and most field goals made in a postseason(14), which he set in 2006.

He will get in eventually...he deserves to.

Eli Manning is another story...He had 2 great playoff runs and Superbowl wins but other than that he was an average to below average QB his entire career. He will likely get in eventually(probably sooner than later due to his last name) but he is not deserving in my view.

Ben McAdoo was 100% correct to bench him as he was beyond awful at that point in his career.

      Jake is spot-on:

      1) Vinatieri will eventually get in. There are only a few kickers in there.

      2) Agree on Eli. It's funny how the Two Rings criteria seems to apply to QBs only. Jim Plunkett is the only outsider. It's not like the Two Ring criteria applies to Left Guards. Eli played very well when he needed to, so I credit him for that.
...Funny side-bar. If you want to look at a contemporary comparison, look at Eli versus Tony Romo. I'm of the opinion that Romo was a decidely superior player (but didn't win the titles).

Tight end Antonio Gates, cornerback Eric Allen, defensive end Jared Allen and wide receiver Sterling Sharpe are the newest members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and will be inducted Aug. 2 in Canton, Ohio.

*Eric Allen was a great player. One of my favorite hi-lites was his LONG int-return where he gave the ball to an injured Randall Cunningham (on crutches) after getting into the EZ.

*Sterling Sharpe is worthy, but I'm a little surprised he made it. He's in a pool of players (with Gayle Sanders and Terrell Davis) who was very productive over a shortened career.
...On a per-game basis, I'll take Sterling over contemporary Michael Irvin for sure.
...Brother Shannon gave a great shout-out for Sterling in his HOF speech. Wonder if that swayed any voters.

All 4 of those guys deserved to get in.

Sterling Sharpe had to retire due to a neck injury but he was dominant in his time in the NFL and i do not have an issue putting him in.

*I wanted the 2007 Charger team to win @NewEng so badly. It's the game where Tomlinson exited early with a knee injury:
...I understand that he couldn't go. If a RB has no legs, what can they do?
...That's the game where Rivers played on one blown-out knee. Some reports say that he played with two blown-out knees.
...They almost won. They were stuffed 4x in the Red-zone.

The Charger teams with Gates/Tomlinson/Rivers were good enough to win a title. Just didn't get there.

Give me the line up prior to him who are in.

Remember ++points to those who kicked outdoors. VIN was smart and opted out of NE to go indoor with Manning.

Also remember OFF has changed the NFL from the 70's to the 90's 2000's. Think back when DB's could actual get physical. WR stats inflated DB's underrated.

That game still haunts me. There were probably about 10-15 plays that game where the Chargers would have won if any of them didn't happen. Marlon McCree had it won with an INT, all he had to do was go down. The selfish idiot got up and started running and got stripped by Troy Brown. Brady got the ball back and the rest is history.

Pretty clear to me that Vinnie will get in. Four kickers in the HOF, but Blanda & Groza played other positions. Stenerud & Morton Andersen are the only exclusive kickers who are in.

He was HORRIBLE his last few years in Indy

His career FG% was 83.7% which puts him 35th all time and his longest was just 57 yards

There aren't too many kickers in the HOF. He will get in but I don't see any issue not being first ballot

The Pro Football Hall of Fame changed up its selection process this year, which made it more difficult to get in. Because of that, only four players were voted for induction, which makes it the smallest class since 2005 when four players were also inducted.

As for Eli, he could be waiting awhile before he gets in. Under the new Hall of Fame bylaws, if you make it to the final seven in the voting for modern-era players, you'll automatically be a finalist for the following season. However, Manning didn't make the final seven, but Luke Kuechly, Tory Holt, Willie Anderson and Adam Vinatieri all did, so they'll be automatic finalists for 2026.

Normally they don't add more than 1 player at any position to the HoF per year. They can, but it's just not the norm as it tends to marginalise the #2 player that goes in. Next season Brees and Fitzgerald become eligible and both are locks to be 1st ballot inductees. (Witten is also likely to go in 1st ballot). That pretty much means both Holt nor Wayne will miss out again next year. I'm fine with Sharpe, Holt and Wayne all being inducted in different years. They all deserve it, and Sharpe had already waited longer than he should have.

Too early for some of the names that got in. Some guys waited much longer. They had to pay their dues first.
