Massive brawl erupts at New Jersey high school wrestling match; father of star wrestler taken out in cuffs

This guy Knox is a hammer. Guy never loses. He actually beat Bassett in one of the pre-season tournaments, that's how good he is.

Incident after the match. His dad went out in cuffs. I wonder what could have possibly triggered him like that.

In HS I wrestled 158 lbs. (170 lbs. in college).
Our Heavyweight was all state, tough as nails.
I'll never forget this one dual meet, the opposing Heavyweight scooped up our guy like a candy wrapper, and for reasons unknown (best guess anabolic steroids) body slammed him on his back, collapsed lung and all, then he straddled our guy, fists up.
Both benches cleared, it was ugly, this HS dual meet was nastier than any MLB brawl.

Shit like that goes on all the time.

MJ coaches, he has some stories as well.

New Jersey is a split state. Industrial in the north, agriculture and shoreline in the south.
North Jersey High Schools produce some of the best football lineman and wrestlers.
Vince Lombardi coached Englewood HS, Parcells is a northern Bergen County guy...

Jersey is a very populous state per square mile, especially Bergen and Hudson counties, there's just too much competition there.
And if you come from like the Patterson or Newark region, if you're not tough as nails there's a chance you won't see your 21st birthday.

Look at the state demographics, that alone will tell you why the Jersey kids are tough. they grow up having to be tough.
Every HS has a bitter rival, like Bergen Catholic and Passaic Catholic.
I graduated Cranford HS, our bitter rival was Westfield NJ, no love lost there at all.

Jersey wrestlers are incredibly tough. They sometimes talk about Cranford. I guess it was down but is now rising.

Chapman is good, ranked #2. Would be hard pressed to beat the 1-seed, tho:

But I've heard a lot of stories about NJ HS athletes 'juicing'
Steroids are easy to get here, just drive up 40 minutes to Tony Soprano country, his boys will hook you up with what you need, I won't go there, I was coached clean.

I know about the Chapman kid, he wrestles my old weight class, I'm 5'7" with an incredible low center of gravity, Chap is like 5'9"

Wait a minute. This story is gaining traction. Knox supposedly DQ'd from the NJ tournament.

I figured that video was just parents getting bent. Story says that Anthony assaulted a youth. If true, that's incredibly stupid and will impact his future path.

I was going to make the trip to see Knox. Now, I have to think about it.

As a backdrop, Knox is easily the best wrestler in the state. One of the best in the nation. There's a CHANCE that an opposing parent was just bent that Anthony was taking out their son.

Knox gets a reprieve. He wrestles...and of course, he wins.

Nashy, as of now, think I'm gonna make the trip. My plan is to spend SAT watching the matches.

1) I didn't attend. Would have gone but wasn't going to pay a $15 Ticketmaster charge.
2) Knox wrestled. And of course, he won his bracket.
3) The three other big-names each won. So, no huge upsets.
4) Dangerous precedent from the court. The NJ Commissioner correctly applied the rule. You leave the bench area...and you are Dis-qualified from future tournaments.
5) Knox still has an assault charge pending. He won Gold...but still may be charged. I frankly don't see how he'd be acquitted, as the assault is on video.
