#14Colorado's going to be on the receiving end of what they dished out in 2007, when they won 13 of last 14 to make the playoffs, if they don't watch out.
What is really amazing about Atlanta was that 2 weeks ago they were 7.5 games out but had to pass 4 teams (!) to win the wild card. One by one, Chicago, Florida, and San Francisco have all stepped aside to let those in the fast lane pass them. Only Colorado can stop this amazing run, should be a great finish to the season.Comment -

#15playing the mets and nationals down the strech (the later 7of their last10 games to end the season) has helped the braves chances for a wild card spot. colorado has lost 8 of 13 and will face brewers at home and will be in l.a to end the year. tonight they will be facing narvenson 15 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings in three starts -- all Brewers wins.Comment -

#19Absolutely love the pitching staff.
What a run...time to finish it off. 4 against the Natty Lights while the Rocks finish with 3 in LA>Comment -

#20When Derek Lowe is your 5th starter you have a pretty good staff. Tommy Hanson has pitched like a true #1 since joining the club in June. He probably won't win ROY, but he is by far the rookie with the most potential in the league. People were talking about his control "issues" earlier in the season when he was walking 4 or 5 guys a start it seemed. If you watched him now you would not ever think this kid has control issues. He is pinpoint accurate and always around the strikezone - a power pitcher who paints the black and pitches down in the zone. He's everything they billed him as and more. The most impressive thing (well, his accuracy is pretty damned impressive) is his demeanor at such a young age. He carries himself like he knows he's that good. I love his long, cold stare from the mound. He's intimidating. Been a while since the Braves had a young arm like this with the attitude to go along with it.Last edited by jellobiafra; 09-29-09, 12:36 PM.Comment -

#21Atlanta 6-0
Colorado 4-2
Atlanta 5-1
Colarado 3-3
If teams win games as mentioned above then there is a tie and a single playoff game.
If Atlanta wins tonight (This is the toughest game out of the 6 they face) then they will beat the Marlins tomorrow and will have no problem sweeping the Nats at home.
So basically if Colorado loses any games with the Brewers then they will definitely be in big trouble going into LA to face Dodgers when Dodgers will be playing for homefield advantage in the NL playoffs.
I believe if the Braves win tonight and the Rockies lose one game to the Brewers the Braves will catch them or surpass them at the end.Comment -

1 game playoff in Atlanta.
I'm just glad my team is still playing meaningful baseball in late September. It's been a few years. I'm proud of my boys for this run. And the future looks really good.
Hanson and Jurjjens. Name two pitchers under 25 with a better outlook than these two.Comment -

#25JJ is 4-0 with a 0.62 ERA his last 4 starts. The kid is 14-10 with a 2.61 ERA and he's 23 years old. People still don't even know who he is for the most part. Most underrated pitcher in baseball I think.Comment -

#32JJ gave the braves an amazing game when they met earlier this year if memory serves me right....
and those that say bobby cox is lucky and that the braves don't have playoff pitching are haters
theres still a long way to go before the playoffs though...
for now it appears my call to Bobby telling him to announce a retirement and rally the troops has worked though!Comment -
