i see a lot of guys around here talking about how matchbook is 100% safe or close to it because they have no risk because they dont take bets - they provide an exchange & make 2% of winnings. this makes sense in theory, but in my opinion, this does not make them any safer than any other financially secure book...
books rarely fail because "players kill them". get real. the juice nearly always makes up for any player winnings. there are enough compulsive gamblers out there to give books all they need, and to well than make up for the winners. it's proven that maybe 1-2% of all sports gamblers win long term.
books fail because they were either poorly funded and solely relied on customer deposits to keep going, and i highly doubt any SBR top rated books are in that situation.
in my opinion, the #1 reason books fail is because of the owner has his own compuslive gambling or spending problem, or because the book eventually decides its better to cash out and steal players $ than sell.
bottom line is that if you can't afford to lose it, it should not be in your gaming account....
