Breaking News: Lee Corso to retire
Lee Corso retirement: Legendary college football analyst will step away after Week 1 of 2025 season - CBSSports.com

I can't say anything bad about Lee. He's a good guy, and he's made me laugh more than a few times.

    "Not so fast, my friend."

    1) The head-gear.
    2) The game-picks. Very early lead on sports-betting.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

If you go back far enuf, Chris Fowler used to give his Mighty Dog pick. Had SOME success, then he hit an 0-10 cold streak. They used to casually talk about sports-betting, Lee did take FLA over Peyton's Tenn team as a dog and connected.

I did not realize he is a few months from 90 years old. Dayam.....
He probably should have hung it up years ago.

Who's going to wear the stupid mascot heads now? Herbstretit? McAffee?

He will be missed but this was long overdue. I wish Lee the best health as he enjoys retirement.

It's definitely time. Been a rough watch at times the past few years with Herbie basically holding his hand throughout the show. Should be a nice sendoff - One final "Headgear"!

Corso all time picks are 286-144. What a record.

Don't these guys usually pick the home team on the ML? Wonder how many times he picked a dog ML.

He's definitely picked some dogs. That said, these S/U pick shows are pretty lame.

He has had some slips. He also said "Fuk it" after he got riled up.

The Sunshine Scooter is really a classic guy. Other guy I miss = Beano Cook. Beano was one-of-a-kind.

Hubie Brown called his last NBA game a few months ago at 91 and he was sharp as a tack.

Vin Scully retired at 88 and was still awesome calling games.

Always liked him. Not even just Gameday but the Thursday night college game commentary, too.

Yes. He did say that Powlus would win two Heismans. Missed it...by that much.

Holtz viewed Powlus as a cerebral QB. Performance didn't match (but he wasn't terrible). NWern did beat NDame as a HUGE dog (like +28).

And props to Corso. He got a LOT of mileage out of his schtick.
Add Bob Uecker to that list! He was doing radio play by play last fall here in Milwaukee - Sharp as ever! Unfortunately we lost him in January...

Costas just retired from play-by-play as well.

Yes, Uecker may have been the KING of self-deprecating humor.

Art, I consider myself to be pretty knowledgeable about sports. Uecker hit it on the Johnny Carson show. Art Donovan had similar success on the talk-show circuit. Johnny and Dave Letterman shows.

Art could also make himself the butt of his own jokes. Another one of a kind guy. They broke the mold with Art.

If you want a modern parallel, listen to Ryan Leaf. He actually took his NFL bust-out and turned it into a reputable career as a broadcaster. Pretty smart, he's capitalizing on his youthful errors.

i will never forget the 1993 season when beano cook said on gameday that he thought kevin mcdougal should win the heisman trophy lol

chris fowler was trying to control his laughter as he smiled but beano was getting irritated at the the thought of being mocked on air.

sure, mcdougal led the ND upset of powerhouse FSU that year in south bend, but Kevin was not a heisman level QB. beano just loved ND whether he wanted to admit it or not.

we lost beano in 2012 i believe.

i miss him and his espn chat session. a lot.
