Jason Tatum pretty much gets the lion's share of the press clippings, but Jaylen Brown has HEART.
Late third quarter, Brown picks the wallet clean from Cory Joseph, goes in from midcourt unabated to the hoop for a jackhammer jam.
The stare down Brown gave to Orlando's big man, Wendell Carter, right after that steal, was epic, it was real, very real.
I don't know what exactly the Magic game plan was when they learned Tatum was sitting, but from where I sit, it almost looked like they thought they could intimidate the Celtics, on their parquet floor yet, if that was the case, that has to rank up there with some of the shittiest pre game plans in NBA history.
From the opening tap Orlando was talking all sorts of shit on the floor, and Brown had enough of that.
I used to have a lot more respect for Orlando and what they have done in the past year or so, but tonight they crossed the line from chippy to dirty.
I don't think Bitdaze had criminal intent in his heart when he inadvertently hammered Zinger from point-blank range with his elbow, but...
It looked dirty as sin, nevertheless.
Even KCP was mouthing off all game.
Old man Al has too much class (that's the Gator in him) to tell you to your face, but you know even Horford loved sticking to them tonight.
Listen, the Magic have some very promising pivot dudes in the starting five, but that backcourt of KCP and Cory Joseph doesn't put the fear of God in any opposing defenses, and the bench guards (Anthony Black and Cole Anthony) are not very good. Shit, Cole Anthony has been in the NBA for five years, and is already 2.5 years 'over the hill'.
And speaking of over the hill, Gary Harris is finished, but what choices did they have when Suggs went down with that that blown knee, which he may never be 100 percent again, because Suggs was just hitting his stride this season, the Magic need a Donovan Mitchell type off guard, or even a guy like Reeves or Pritchard, but the C's aren't parting with Prtichard or Derrick White. If Suggs is damaged goods from here on out, that franchise just got set back four years. That bench needs a serious upgrade.
Speaking of Gary Harris, do you remember who he was traded for?
