Trump has to make a hard choice soon. He is in a no win position. Economic destruction is not acceptable but losing lives isn't either. They should close off higher infected areas and stop travel to and from those areas via plane.

From a political perspective I think its the right call to make for him. Trump has downplayed this pandemic more than pretty much any other head of state. If he now adopts a lockdown approach like its done in Europe, then in November he is gonna have a broken economy and still a lot of dead americans. And it would be easy for an opponent to attack him on both corona and the economy.

If he opens op the economy he will end up with maybe 0,1 -0,5% more dead than other countries, but maybe he will be able to say that he saved the US economy from a hard recession.
