There is another good thread on this, but I opened another to put the bullsh-t we just saw into historical perspective,
The posters who believe that NFL wants their boring (to real fans of the game) crap game in Febraury to be a morality play and hot story, are on the mark. Patriots with movie star Brady versus American Folk Hero Farve.
The NFL whore, Dan Dierdorf, speads 'em for the League. As does almost all the print beat writers. But high marks for Boomer Esiason, who during halftime revealed that the official (Luckett, heir to the corrupt Jerry Markbreit) made the fake call.
I do have a very small bet on SD, also the Under, but I'm on record going back to around '01 (when I was writing for another website) as pointing up the NFL's desire for high-profile teams or players (QBs and RBs), or teams with inherent
"feel good" stories to get into the late playoffs or SB. At almost any cost.
It doesn't always work for them, of course. And hopefully won't today. But Luckett tried to help Indy a few years ago, unsuccessully at that time.
Indy vs NE. Then NE vs GB in the commercial event masked as a football game in Feb.
College hoops, anyone? The NFL in January/Feb is too much like the WWF
