I just read an article by Chad Millman in ESPN the magazine about the Buckey database. Tom Stryker helped build the database and only sold 9 copies for $15,000 each. Dr. Bob, Marc Lawrence etc each have a copy. If you had the chance would you buy a copy? Also, has anyone here used the database?
Would you pay $15,000 for the Buckeye Database

#7^no ******* doubt
from what I read I dont see what the big deal is. If the database would spit on winners that would be one thing but it is just stats and trends.Comment -

#8Databases are not worth that much. I built a combined NFL and NCAAFB statistical database with closing spreads and totals for less than $1000.Comment -

#9Not a chance in hell. The guys who bought it use it to make selections to sell. None of them are ahead $ wise off their betting. They make dough from the dumbasses that pay for picks.Comment -

#10Good read. I should put all these database classes I keep taking to good use and create a database to toy around with.Comment -

#12Why would I pay $15K for the Buckeye database when I have a better NBA database than what that one has, with more in-depth data and more info than that one has by far?...
I started mine from scratch and it took me close to 3 years to build it and I have been adding to it ever since...I even have a boxscore for every game...Comment -

#17Hmmm, I mean, if that database is worth 15K, and my database has MORE NBA info (pertinent info, not meaningless info), then that one has, why would I "share" it for free?...Obviously, after reading that article, my database certainly is worth some coin, but in all honesty, it's probably something I should keep private as the info it contains is invaluable, quite frankly...
Maybe I can post a sample of it, we'll see, but I don't even know if I should do that...I do sell a much smaller version of my private database online, but the private one is not for sale...Comment -

#21Funny sh*t..."Now there are different players on all the teams"...Really?...What does that have to do with actual situational handicapping?...
Answer: Absolutely nothing...
I guess there aren't too many actual handicappers on this forum...No biggie...Comment -
