he has a great voice and its a great story, but i hate how we always want to root for the underdog.

guy was addicted to shit, cut off his family (and whatever kids) and now is going to get who knows what. we always want these people to succeed. why cant we root for the guy who supports his family making minimum wage doing all the right things in the first place.

Underdog as in a lazy dumbfukk and now everyone wants to help him. Lets focus more on people like Rudy working their way up as a good person instead of handing it over to a homeless druggie because it makes people feel better

underdog was a bad word to use here, there are 3 types of underdogs and I only root for 1

                                      a. in this scenario i meant someone that doesnt try and things are given to him.

                                      b. rudy tries just as hard or harder than anyone so you like to see him succeed.

                                      c. tiger practices golf more than anyone in the world, except maybe vijay. when its a tourney with someone like tiger vs bob may in the pga championship, everyone is rooting for bob may..but come on the guy doesnt work as hard at it and isnt even on tour now. he is not as deserving to win. the people that practice the hardest and most should imo.

I swear this guy is by far the nicest guy i have ever seen in my life. i have seen him on many talk shows and 1 in every 4 words he says is thank you, thank you so much.. i appreciate this.. thank you.. he's so kind and polite.. and what is happening here is the proof that in life, if you are kind and respect people and you are an overall good person, good things will happen to you.. it always comes back.. and when you are not nice, you will live a bad life.

what is happening to this guy is karma. he's a great guy and good things are starting to happen to him. Like i said, nicest guy i have ever seen in my life. so freakin kind. i am happy for him. he deserves it.

I understand your point Rudy and find myself rooting for both sides of the coin. I appreciate and root for Tiger Woods and great teams that consistently succeed. However, I also root for people who overcome adversity. We don't know how hard it is to overcome such hardships because everybody's situation is different. This man could very easily be standing out on the corner begging for money to buy beer, but he (allegedly) has been sober for two years and was soliciting employment.

How do you feel about Josh Hamilton and did you root for him during the homerun derby a few years ago?

Its not like I am a miserable SOB that hates everyone. I would root for everyone to succeed, but that's not possible. Everyone has a chance to do something dumb crazy and stupid. I'd rather praise the normal person working hard and taking care of their kids, than some low life that has avoided all of his responsibilities and now can come back free.

In my opinion, he, unlike this homeless guy has atleast worked very hard at his profession. It was never given that he'd be 1 of the best players in the game without his dedication. So from that standpoint, I'd root for him more, but I still think he's a piece of shit. How many times can he cheat on his wife and neglect his kids and still be viewed as a "good person" as long as he includes the words "changing" and "Jesus" in every interview? I don't have respect for his morals, but that has nothing to do with baseball.

I'd rather someone reading and understanding the think tank become a top handicapper than Brock Landers who just makes the plays out of thin air. Wouldn't you?
The first time these bolded words have been uttered in the same sentence.

I don't disagree with you, just was interested in your thoughts about Hamilton.

Rudy, do you realize what it takes to come from the depths of despair like this guy did to give up drinking and drugs and trust in a higher power? Unless you have you can't know what successes this guy has had. Those successes alone make me happy for this guy and am glad he has a chance to continue making things right.

Did he have failures in the past? Yes. He abandoned his kids and his mother and he took the lazy way out. But if what he says is true, he got off alcohol and drugs and is now turning his life around.

I don't want to make a 5min post answering the full post because its really each individual's choice as to who they root for to succeed, but I'll answer this real quick

                                                        Happened in 2009:

Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, who made headlines after overcoming his drug and alcohol addiction and devoting himself to Jesus, is involved in another scandal after photos of him having crazy, wild, drunk fun with some women last January in a Tempe, Arizona, bar were leaked online by Deadspin.

The difference is I don't mind Hamilton in the business world, because he is succeeding off of hard work and talent, not given to him.

And trust me, I understand addiction is a disease. But when the fukk are people going to start taking responsibility of their own actions?

Let me guess, when his kids turn out to cheat on their wives and out taking body shots off of females instead of reading a bed time story to their kids, they can just blame it on their Dad and how they never had a father figure growing up.

How about someone show some responsibility??

Give me a break; the guy is a 100% con man, criminal, crack head milking the simpletons for all they're worth. Nice touch saying "Mommy" for a 53 year old too..gtfouta here.

He was just convicted (again) in May 2010 of theft and had a reputation for excessive panhandling, pissing on establishments, disrupting businesses, etc. He was even stealing when he had a job with a radio station in the 90s.

He also abandoned his blind wife, 4 daughters with her, and some other kids of his with a different woman..
