haha it was so funny when seguin held the cup, hes like wtf just happened and quickly passed it on. He was like embarassed he won a stanley cup already But anyway i was at the parade today!! ******* unreal how many ppl were there far exceeded the red sox, patriots and celtics parade
People have said that no one cares about hockey in the U.S. and that hockey is 4th in popularity sports in boston. i never bought it. well, the avg fans for a parade in all nfl, nba, nhl and mlb is roughly 500,000 fans. the mavs just beat lebron for their 1st title and only got 200,000 fans. i just watched the whole bruins parade and they kept saying that boston broke the record for biggest turnout for a sports parade ever. even more than redsox, even more than celtics beating lakers, more than any pats titles...even in L.A for lakers, they barely got 1 million, and L.A is a big city.. it even beat every yankee parade and NY is huge...dallas has 6.5 million in metro area, boston has 4.5 million.
the previous parade record was redsox 2004, 2nd place was flyers 1974, 3rd place was blackhawks 2010.. well, today boston broke it.. 3 of the top 4 parades are from hockey.. not superbowl champs, nor world series champs. it's hockey.
i am so proud of boston.. and i am happy to see hockey getting this much interest in the U.S. who says hockey isn't big in the U.S?
My lil bro was there today, he was also at the last redsox parade and said the turnout seemed much bigger at this bruins parade.. pretty cool to see.. i havent been much of a hockey fan since the cam neely/ray borque days but happy for one of my old hometown teams

Nice to see some of the smartest sbr posters in this thread! Real happy for the Bruins, they picked up steam after the Horton hit, won 3 game 7's. After being up 3-0 on Philly last year and losing the series they had a bitter taste and came back strong. COngrats Boston!!
