A prenup can be made very specific including exclusion of any cash or assets that didn't belong to an individual prior to the marriage. Only a fool doesn't sign a prenup. Man I won't even allow a GF to shack up with me without one. It's $50 well spent at a Notary Public.

A prenup is valid only in certain states. I believe in Michigan you can have an attorney make one for you... but it is invalid when you go to court. Michigan law is 50/50 no matter what.
