    How to bet soccer?
With the World Cup approaching.....I'd like to bet for fun on soccer. In the past, I've enjoyed watching the WC. However, looking at the early lines on pinnacle this isn't the standard football or basketball lines I am use to seeing....

Anyway...i am sure I am not alone but could someone give me and others a quick primer on the basics of betting soccer.

If you could talk about specific books, lines, totals, how often do draws occur, halftime betting (if such things exist), or anything else that would be great. I know there are a lot of soccer guys on here who can help...

    Thanks guys....

You are asking for too much info BB ... itd take forever.

But, if want to try some solid betting while watching Id suggest thre over/under goals market. Its pretty much stats based and there should be good markets.

            World Cup - First Round

Two teams of each group go on. This means that there will be plenty of 'positioning'. In the first game a good team will definitely NOT want to lose. So they'll play it safe. If the two strongest teams of a group meet in game 1 (unlikely; don't have the schedule in front of me), they'll both be satisfied with a tie.

A very weak team in a group will be used for target practice. Goal differential may very likely decide second place. The time of very weak teams may be over, but there seem to be a few that don't amount to much.

When two strong teams meet in game 3 (last game of first round), and both go on with a tie, guess what the end result will be? This is all very obvious, but I just wanted to point out that the politics of the first round may make for some real betting opportunities.

From round two on it is winner goes on, aka knock-out system. This is when the real tournament starts. But round 1 may have some of the easiest bets.

            - Later.
