A pizza costs them about $2 to make.. Ill use Big Days #... 5 million users have rewards account... maybe half will actually follow through and claim it. Add in, half of those will probably order something else to go with with pizza + the advertising they received... not a bad move.

If you include the time and all costs involved, I would bet it's more than $2 (for the pizza AND free pepsi max - maybe pepsi pays that?). I assume they must charge delivery. Still gotta pay the delivery guy something.

They can afford it, but it's a pretty massive promo. They're hoping to pick up and keep long-term customers.

Lets assume that each of these locations has an average of about 200 rewards members.

That's about 600,000 rewards members nationwide.

I'm guessing that about 30% of them will take advantage of the free pizza.

180,000 pizzas.

In order for Papa Johns to give away 5,000,000 pizzas, that would come out to an average of 1639 pizzas at each location.

That is NOT going to happen.

I'm pretty sure that PJ's has more than 600k rewards members. Somebody said it was 5 million. That wouldn't surprise me. Probably only half will actually use it. It's still going to be in the millions. I don't know why you assume a "location" has only 200 (free) rewards members. You don't have to belong to a store, PJ's is national, you're just a member in general.

I'm sure PJ's will be BUSY the next few weeks, that's for sure.
