I heard opie made the call to get Dax fired and top management was having none of it (gold even stepped up to plate for ol' dax). So when it came down to opie that his request had been denied, he went to the SBR book and hammered Dax, just raped him like a small child, took SBR for large sums. They took the records 'off the books' to hide the mess but someone had to take the fall.

I also heard opie may be moving in as a consultant while they look for a sharp poster who has nothing but free time to run the book. Maybe paco?
