Fairly standard book, can't see them being much use for US Bettors.

I make a few bets there, occasional good IR line

      A recent SBR notice:

      6/23/2006 3:02:00 PM
SBR Bill Dozer reports: STANJAMES (SBR rating B-) targets American betting market; adds Neteller as banking option. The sportsbook says it will add Moneybookers next month. SBR readers have complained that the book’s prices are too high, with some US sports betting carrying double the standard vig.

My 2 cents in no official capacity other than as a player:

I have used Stan James on and off (more off than on) for a few years. I have indeed seen the high vig that is mentioned in that bulletin. Looking at their baseball lines right now, it looks like things have gotten better. I see moneylines like -110/-110 and -200/+170 where I remember them being more like -120/-120 and -175/+125. So that's good. I am also seeing 20 cent runlines at the moment. 40 cent totals.

The vig on the tennis lines is like I remember. Numbers like -300/+200 and -1000/+500.

Given those numbers, it may sound odd but the main reason I have used them is for arbs. They didn't seem to watch their American sports very closely and those big juice lines would drift into arb position. I mean, there weren't millions of arbs but it was worth my while. It seems reasonable to guess they will be watching them more closely now.

I understand they actually write their own tennis lines - and they frequently had some opinionation to them. It was worthwhile knowing what time they posted them every day and being ready to jump on the opening numbers (although I do recall cases of obvious arbitrageurs being restricted).

They have a pretty good selection of International Events including novelty markets.

I used to have to deposit by credit card so the addition of Neteller seems good. I'm not even sure if I ever had a payout there. I don't recall ever seeing complaints about their safety or reliability. Stan James has been around for a relatively long time.

It's not a place for bonus enthusiasts to go. I see they have a $50 free bet for new customers. As far as I can see, that's it.

I haven't scalped at StanJames at all, but my online limits have been cut pretty low. Over the phone, though, they've always accepted any bet. I'd say they are quite similar to Bet365 in most respects: high juice but often rogue numbers; huge array of offerings; native-English-speaking support; not friendly to advantage players. Their payouts are fast and one free per 30 days.

They do live betting for regular season hockey. They seem to pride themselves on live markets. The juice is too high. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to request a payout from them because I keep losing.
