Hi guys I'm going to try and do this about once a month. It will be a question or statement about poker that I would like your input on. About something I may not understand or I am just curious about. That maybe you can give some insight on. This month I will start with something very simple about terminology that makes no sense to me.

When playing hold'em why do players call the hole cards a hand? It takes 5 cards to make a hand if you want to make your hand with only 2 cards that's fine with me. Anyone else fined this odd or reason for it.

Next month I will have something more about the way some people play cards that I find curious. I have only been playing about 10 years mostly online, I have
a lot to learn. GL at the tables!!

Why is three of a kind called a set only when two of your hole cards are paired and one of the board card matches your pair, and trips is three of a kind when the board pairs one of your hole cards.

Three of a kind is three of a kind no matter how you get there, right?

1) Because they are the only cards that are only yours.

2) To easily distinguish between the two different situations in conversation.

Seen this all too often when a party gets caught doing something underhanded. To try to prevent people from talking about it/deflecting the issue/discouraging people from going after them for it, they threaten to sue them for slander/libel to try to get them to back down, all too common I'm afraid.

Glad to see his attempt didn't work, and it blew up in his face, nice when karma works out properly!
