    Protein Powder: Need help
What do you guys take for protein powder?

had optimal nutrition - I mustve gotten the isolate because it didn't taste good and contained hardly any fat

MTS cookies n cream - ok but expensive and I didn't like it that much

bulk supplements pure protein - too foamy, not much taste tho but its 30% foam atleast

I don't want Walmart brands bc I know they fukk u on available protein

    any suggestions???

I use Phormula-1 from 1st Phorm. Great flavors and dissolves fast and complete. I've also used their Ignition product for post workouts combined with the protein.

Been using BSN for a few years now, best protein I've ever had...it's a good clean protein and all the flavors taste amazing, (the milk chocolate seriously tastes exactly like a chocolate frosty from Wendy's) not cheap but as with anything else you get what you pay for: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/bsn/synth.html

Protein powders are a hoax and as overrated as sports drinks.

Eat a healthy nutritious diet, and plenty of it. BY FAR the best approach... but I know gym rats don't want to hear that

no sh*t sherlock...do you understand the definition of the word 'supplement'? it's to supplement when there isn't time to get in healthy meals all day long...at 200lbs I don't have the time or the stomach to eat 200grams worth of protein in my diet so I supplement at work with a shake. Not sure how clean protein can be a hoax? is a chicken breast a hoax as well? I would agree pretty much everything else is a hoax but supplementing with Protein and Creatine when you can't get enough in your regular diet have been proven over and over to be beneficial

You'll wanna use a whey based protein powder. Just be careful, it may disrupt your bowels, if it does cut way back.

Anybody that says all protein powder is bad, just doesn't know what's up.

Rudy - Several things you need to ask yourself before purchasing a protein powder.

                  1. Do you want added fats in it?
                  2. How many sugars do you want per serving?
                  3. Are you on a budget?
                  4. Also, does it digest properly. Um... will it give you the sh#$s?

Isopure - Vanilla is probably the best protein powder ever made but you might want to throw in some blended fruit to give it flavor.

Optimum Nutrition - They have an advanced protein powder that includes the proper Amino Acids that your muscles need before/after a workout. They have a 100% natural protein with no preservatives etc.

If any of this stuff is turning your stomach... discontinue.... and find a brand that digests properly. Otherwise it's useless.

Personally I use this whenever I'm getting sick of the same foods over and over again....

Whey protein is the Nickelback of protein powders. It's still the most commonly used because it's still relatively cheap, and back when that's all there was, it still has a name that people associate with muscle-building, even though way better options have surfaced in the last 15 years.

Not going to go into specific brands because i don't know what you're looking to do, but hemp or pea protein is a better option than soy or whey. Start there.

Well don't just slag the Nickelback without giving us the Led Zeppelin of protein powders. I've seen the pea protein supplements... how do they compare to whey? I think dairy in general should be consumed in moderation, if at all, if we're talking strictly about human health, and whey, as well as casein, are the two major proteins in milk.

Disagree. Hemp or pea protein are lower in protein than quality whey, and they aren't digested as fast. Slower uptake = more muscle wasting and slower progress.

Of course, if the most excercise one gets is walking to the fridge, none of this matters.

I guess it all depends on what you're looking for.

Are you just wanting to gain size because you're a time-traveler from the 1980s and you think gaining mass at the expense of everything else is rad? Then whey is your best option. Yes it does absorb faster, which again, if you max out your bench press and wear Zubaz pants, whey protein is for you.

For people who want to be healthy too, pea protein or brown rice protein is much better. Digests much easier (no lactose), has better overall nutritional value because whey protein is usually very heavily processed, and no artificial sweeteners that you absolutely don't need. Besides, the choice between plant based or milk based should be a lay-up.

I'm using Plant Fusion right now. 21g of protein, and I get about that much from breakfast too, maybe more. Around 40g is all your body really wants to take on at one time anyway.

When I was younger I use to use skim milk in everything. I never realized all the sugars in milk before. Now, that I'm older... I try to cut up as best as possible. I always do water. I don't nurse it while drinking it... I slam it..... and put up with the nasty taste.

I have noticed that anything with Vanilla and water... is horribly nasty. But for me... anything with Chocolate and water... I can tolerate.

Pick up some cheap Body Fortress whey from WalMart. Stuff is cheap and has a decent protein to calories ratio. Assuming you don't want to gain a ton of mass of course.

damn, alot of good info that i was not expecting..it is much appreciated

looking to spend about $50-60/5lb which i think is pretty standard?

not looking to get ripped, its for performance..i have more of a powerlifting routine than bodybuilding so isolate isnt necessary..good tasting is key

not a fan of coffee, never heard of this pea protein or anything else. ill look into that for next purchase

looks like ill go back to ON for this purchase

Around 40g is all your body really wants to take on at one time anyway.
tbh, im not looking for health benefits nor to look jacked.

i just need to get as strong as possible in legs and arms...so might not be best for me to have this stuff?

I look at protein but also want taste & something that mixes well. I hate having lumps in my shake. If you like mixing with milk, try fairlife milk. More protein & less sugar than most others

i dont know if they work or not but are pretty cheap so if im throwing a few nickels and dimes away with each scoop, i can live with it.
