Record breaking numbers, but so what. What all too many are focusing on is these numbers of people diagnosed with a virus, but don't realize that doesn't mean they're sick. More people tested means more people diagnosed; it doesn't mean these people have serious symptoms, or even any symptons at all. More overreaction in three and a half months of overeactions.Comment -
Let's just talk about some CDC released facts.
Our nation shut down in March because some modeling estimates had the US death toll reaching 2.4 million. To date, according to the CDC website, the following states have the most deaths per 100,000.
NYC :276
NJ :170
MA: 118
CT:121
RI: 91
PA: 52
Now, let's look at the southern states who for the most part, have been open going on 2 months now. Deaths per 100,000
FL: 17
TN: 9
SC: 15
GA: 27
TX: 8
ARK: 9
KY: 13
NC: 13
WVA: 5
Yeah, the northern states really showed them how it's done. Been continually shut down since March...compare the regions.
Cases are up in the south so what? We didn't shut the country down because we thought 30 something year olds would be sick and back at work in 5 days. We will stay open and take a few aspirin, you guys do what you think is best.
Our nation has had the shit scared out of us. Be smart, wear a mask, wash your hands and stay away from the vulnerable and you will be fine. Cowering in the corner has gone on long enough and people are finally figuring out what is really going on. Time to move on in a careful wayComment -

You have been pretty wrong about this virus from the start. The problem you dont see is that your awful leader has made this so political and made it that wearing a mask and social distancing is a “liberal thing” that the spread doesn’t stop.

I'm not sure how wrong of a statement this is. The government gets to mandate nothing when it comes to infringing on the freedom of the citizens. The trumpenator didn't politicize this. It was politicized when the George Floyd riots started and the media took notice and said go ahead the virus takes a back seat to you rioting, looting and bringing down statues.

Wrong. The cases have gone down in New York and they had massive protests. Why do you think that is? The spikes are in the states that opened too fast and too reckless. The red state governors did a terrible job.

Lots of variables that you’re missing though. Numbers lie all the time. We are much better at treating this now than when it first arrived.....so death rate is lower. We will see the deaths in 2 weeks but it should be lower as you get the young people who are the dumb ones spreading this from bar to bar and party to party. It fits they would survive this at a higher rate.
That said, Trump has bungled this beyond belief and now he’s just acting like it doesn’t exist. He couldn’t have handled this worse if he tried and he will pay for that in a few months.Comment -
Variables? There's one constant and that is NYC and NJ have been shut down since March. NYC has 276 deaths per 100,000 and NJ has 171/100,000.
Florida has been open for 2 months. 17 deaths/100,000.
We were told early on that the US could see upwards of 2.5 million in deaths. You guys are creamin your britches over 129,000, many of whom were already on deaths door. We shut down the nation because we were afraid of millions losing their lives, not millions having cold like symptoms.
These numbers are not political spin, they are real numbers. You guys talk a lot of shit about Florida but DeSantis didn't send hundreds to their deaths like Cuomo.
I'll wager you a month ban if Florida hits 75/ deaths per 100,000 by July 20th. How bout it, sounds like you think Florida is going to break off at the panhandle and crash into the Atlantic. NYC has 276/100,000, surely the shithole state as you call it will have at least 75 in a couple weeks.

Nobody said 2.5 million deaths. That was an estimate without lockdown and social distancing. The last estimate was 100-200k and that looks very accurate.
You have been behind this virus from the start. Not one of your predictions have come true about it. We know the death rate won’t be as high in Florida because younger people are getting it. I clearly said that.
New York and other blue states stayed closed and opened the right way.....which is why they aren’t having the problems DeadSantis and Abbott are having. That is very clear to see.Comment -
Your definition of success and my definition are polar opposite. No one, and I mean no one has handled this pandemic any worse than the idiots that run the state of NY. Narcissist Cuomo should be less interested in hooking up than sending several hundred COVID 19 patients to their deaths. You consider this guy a good leader? If so, tell that to the thousands of family members who lost loved ones due to his incredible ineptness. The man should be prosecuted when this is all said and done.
Don't even get me started on DiBlasio. The dumb fuk was telling people to make plans to attend St Patty days festivities days after other states shut down. 18% of our nation's total deaths from COVID come from NYC alone. 25% of COVID deaths come from NY alone (that's 32,000 of the 129,700), add NJ and it exceeds 30%. Congratufukulations, the cases and death have started to slow up there. . These are real numbers, directly from the CDC site, not some bullshit political talking points.
And you are talking about Florida, as state that has contributed 2.7% of the COVID deaths, despite having the largest per capita population of senior citizens in the country. Cases are spiking, great, 30 somethings stay home and away from seniors and fatties. This is what you are trying to sell to in here? When these spiked cases come anywhere close to the shithole state of NY, look me up, I will apologize

The people of New York are very happy with Cuomo. Maybe you haven’t noticed but most of the country is. New York lost people because of the makeup of their city and because we were still learning about the virus. What’s happening now, in red states, is inexcusable because we know much more about how this spreads and what we can do to stop it.
DeadSantis tough guy speech about the media months back was a disgrace and he now looks like a fool. The death rate is going down because treatment is better as this keeps going.....not because of anything that DeadSantis has done.
