Saw them live a few times and they were always great. Scott Weiland was definitely a hell of a front man.
As for ranking them, that’s a good question. Probably close to my overall Top 10, but that’s a lot of music to sort through. I should take some time and sit back and rank my Top 10 or 20.
Used to be a strong top 3 for me:
1. Def Leppard (my Childhood band….seen them live at least 10 times)
2. The Killers (my wife’s and I’s go to band back in the day)
3. U2 (Used to think they would be my #1/#2 forever….but for some reason the past 5 years I don’t listen to them too often)Last edited by mpaschal34; 05-04-21, 10:44 AM.Comment

Chucky.... STP is my favorite group of all time. Only went to 2 concerts in my entire life... 1996 STP Palace of Auburn Hills. And I believe 1999 Toledo Sports Arena.. How's this for a line up... Disturbed, Godsmack, STP... all for only $29.00 lol fukking steal.Comment

Really liked Weiland as a front-man. EZ to feel bad for him. But I'm sure he brought a lot of the demons on himself.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment

Absolutely loved them, knew them very early on. Got to see them live twice. STP without Weiland I never care for.
Then the other Weiland related projects (Velvet Revolver, The Magnificend Bastards, Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts are all I know of) had random good songs too.
I'll also admit I grew very tired, very quickly, of the typical radio songs people like... Plush, Lady Picture Show, Creep.... they have tons more better material that the casuals don't know. Top 10 band.Comment

Everybody talks about Core and Purple being their masterpieces, rightfully so, but Tiny Music is my favorite album of theirs. Weiland was Bowie-esque. I saw them in 3 different decades and saw them at their best and sadly at their worst when Scott was so fukked up he couldnt even coherently sing half the songs. When they were on though, what a show. One of the best bands of the 90s.Comment

Heroin must hack your brain into making good musicComment

I felt the exact same way. It's like... perfect example when you're born... it's like these 4 guys were destined to come together and make "amazing" music. If you take any one of them away from each other... I really don't care for the sound.
DeLeo brothers on guitar and bass... totally underrated.Comment

Right after that concert... at the Palace of Auburn Hills... I think it was December 10, 1996... tour was cancelled... Weiland had a relapse... probably partied with Detroit hookers all night lol That's when the other members of the band basically said fukk this sh#$ and left Weiland.Comment

Have had a chance to roll thru their discography. Yes, really enjoyed STP's work.
Four guys that fit together and made cool music. Three talented musicians, props to the DeLao's.
Scott was good vocalist. Like a lot of front-men in the spotlight, I'm sure he let ego get to him. For his flaws, he is still in my memory long after he departed.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment

1) Never saw them live. And of course, never will. RIP, Scott.
2) Yes, STP without Weiland was impossible.
3) Scott has to rate as one of the top 10 frontmen from the L40 years. He was a magnet for the camera and played it perfectly. Good vocals to mix with good musician-ship.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment
