Anyone here a Semi Truck Driver?
The kind that goes across the country.

    Thinking about trying for it.

What's the pay and work like?

They're making crazy money now. Last year the median salary was around $45,000. It's now over $70,000.

Unless you own your own truck and trailer you won't make good money. I mean if you are happy going across the country for $60k a year up to you. Its not an easy gig.

When you are in Laramie Wyoming in January in the middle of a blizzard shitting your pants as your trailer swings side to side you will want to get home.

                  Otters where you live?

I quit driving in 2000 and was making $65,000 and I was just driving regional, if coast to coast I could have made at least $10000 more back then. As bad as they needed CDL-A drivers from then until last year, if you stayed at a job for $45000 either you had no experience or a bad driving record that's very low end!!

Otter what you do is get a route like a Costco or Walmart route so you’re going to the same places it’s a little better and not as far distances

Laker a pro But that’s what I would do right now

I'm sure. I was watching a news report where some Swift truckers were even making over 6 figures right now.

                                      Missouri
                                      Kansas
                                      Iowa
                                      Nebraska
                                      Texas

                                      Occasionally I will go to

                                      Louisiana
                                      Mississippi
                                      Georgia
                                      Florida
                                      Tennessee

                                      Eastern seaboard no chance

West too far now and pointless. All the money freight is in the Midwest.

Parking can be a problem but not where I go.

It's the job to have these days. Pays well and very much in need now.

Go to school and get that trucker license!! Away from people on the road and can get into your own thoughts, won't get Covid either.

                                              License easy to get also

Otter might love it but take one route major company and do same thing daily

Then you know exactly how to park truck on the docks and exact roads

Any big chain..so you get hired trucking company and ask for one route same store

Get to the see the Country when always on the highways. New places to always see when trucking!!!

Rest stops are always full of hookers also if you are into that kind of kinky stuff. Can get your freak on in the back of your cabin sleeping area of your rig.

Have my CDL but really don't want to drive a truck. My current job will end in 3-4 years so I may have to then.

When you are in Laramie Wyoming in January in the middle of a blizzard shitting your pants as your trailer swings side to side you will want to get home.

Laker is not kidding. Back in high school me and a couple of my buddies drove to Denver from Salt Lake to see Hate Eternal, Krisiun and I can’t remember who else. Was a badass show. Anyway it was like December and holy shit, it was scary af. On the way back we hit a really bad snow storm there was at least a foot of snow in the ground all the semis were flying past us. Still not sure how that little Ford Ranger made it but it was HAIRY. Once the storm was over and we were near Evanston we saw at least 5 big rigs that had blown over on the side of the road.
