I doubt anyone (people who consistently supports American teams or Americans) went into the tournament planning to root against the women's soccer team. And that is despite the past disrespect these girls showed towards their country, especially on a world's stage. Americans are very forgiving people. If the team put all that woke bs and virtue signaling behind them and stood proudly representing their country during this world cup, all the previous disrespect they showed would have been forgotten and virtually the entire country would be cheering for them. If they still lost, there wouldn't be any of this hostility towards them. The fact is, they brought it on themselves. They made it virtually impossible to root for them.

I try to avoid making blanket statements and being a proponent of free speech doesn't change with my thoughts about keeping shit out of sports. Technology has given us access to news and social media in the palm of out hands. People with a laptop in their kitchen have more viewers than traditional news outlets who dominated eyeballs not that long ago.

My point, is were are inundated 24/7 with all sorts of things everywhere you look. Its almost impossible to avoid it. There are a few exceptions which give us relief. An escape if you will. Sports is one of them. Professional sports to be more specific. It's a few hours or so of watching athletes complete against each other as we are all aware. I am not talking about mixed softball beer league or a pick-up game of volleyball at the beach. I am talking professional athletes. The best of the best. Pro sports. So when players decided to interject politics or virtue signaling into my "escape" then I get irritated. He or she have unlimited hours to be activists if they choose. They don't need to do it wen I am trying to enjoy a game. When Kaepernick lead the kneeling movement, it did take away from the game. The pregame shows spent several minutes discussing it rather than things like injuries, player interviews and all sorts of other things related to the game and the sport which is why I tuned in to begin with. Maybe you think that's selfish? If so, then so what? To me, its an unnecessary distraction. Its divisive and takes away from my sport experience.

Even if I wholeheartedly agree with what these athletes are advocating, I don't wanna see it during the game.

Bud Light decided to put a picture of a man pretending to be a woman on their cans of beer. They purposely chose to divide their customers rather than keep on marketing inclusivity to them. Trans people have always drinking Bud Light I assume. Anyone can enjoy a cold Bud Light. Trans, White, Gay, Black, Latino, man, woman etc. That goes without saying. Just like in sports, you drink beer to relax and to enjoy yourself. You can talk sports or anything else while tipping a few cold ones with friends.
