No further news. Feels like last year’s WynnBet situation where the plug got pulled suddenly.

Well isn’t that something. When I was in a much better spot earlier in the year and had more money spread around, they were good for a nice little line here and there. Offerings were a little limited which could get frustrating. It seemed like they probably hurt for volume. None of your average SGP type folks (which it seems is like 90% of the legal market) used them, so this is no surprise. I mean walk into any bar and ask around, no one’s using fukking SuperBook. Everyone’s gonna have a parlay going at FanDuel. It’s the Kleenex of legal books

Yes it seemed their volume of action was pretty low. May have allowed them to be a little more opinionated with their lines and move numbers slower than other places. Their baseball odds were usually the best out of my books since a dime line was used. UFC was good sometimes, as well.

They did not seem to spend much on marketing and they never added casino games. So their niche of customers seemed more limited. Still was a solid brand and could have developed more with the right plans.

I’m sure the licensing costs, taxes, and efforts to operate added up over time. Shocking to see them suddenly close up a month before football though.

Why didn't they offer SGPs if that is what the punters wanted then?

Punters dumb for wanting SGPs? Or Superbook dumb for not knowing that or being able to profit on it like every other book?

Only fools and horses it seems...

I think they did offer SGPs but didn’t get as exotic with the offerings. And like reload said, they didn’t advertise at all really, and I think they are closer to what like a Circa is doing, like hey we’re gonna take big bets and be fair and trust our bookmaking and all that shit. I could be wrong but that seems to be more their angle than let’s take a bunch of people to the cleaners $5 at a time on parlays that will never hit.

If I’m not mistaken, the SGP thing is pretty new right? Like there’s a lot of weird manipulation that goes into them to make them viable for the books. Like the more correlated they get the lesser the payout and whatnot. And they didn’t really exist until your FanDuels and DraftKings came with their legal sportsbooks, right? I know offshore SGPs just didn’t exist at all when FD and DK came around and still probably don’t honestly, but I haven’t bet offshore in awhile. So someone with more of an old school approach like SuperBook isn’t gonna have a beefed up SGP market with all the live offerings and shit. This is my educated guess anyway

And reload yeah man it hurt my feelings to delete my SuperBook app last night after reading this post. I almost didn’t do it at first! You look at what’s left and at least where I am there’s just not another out quite like them. It was nice to have in the arsenal and will be missed

International books had SGPs for a little while before US legals arrived, but yes it is new. And there can be wide variations in odds between books depending on how they calc the correlation and obv how 'generous' they are too.

You'd think getting a system in place would pay for itself for them though.

Yeah I don’t know…you’d think Circa would do this too, because they seem pretty limited as to where they can even open due to different states’ tax requirements and such. Prime is another place with a similar business model. I’d assume it comes down to resources. If your goal is to be a sharp book with house limits for all and welcomes all action, you may not also be able to be all things to the average dickweed that wants to turn $5 into a million. The book that is all things to all people doesn’t seem to exist at least in the USA, so there has to be a reason. But your guess is as good as mine.

The number of books consolidating does go to show that bookmaking is not a license to print money, without being good at it and business management in general.

I was actually going to say verbatim “not a license to print money” but edited it out so it’s funny how in tune we are here

Superbook was super disapointing. Limited me pretty quickly. They don't really have props, so I got limited off of MLB, NFL and NHL. Would only take $50 on NPB and KBO. At the point of limiting, would take 70$ on NHL totals.

Oh well. I don't understand why books don't even try. Be a rec book, offer good bonuses and lots of bets and limit people, or be a sharp book and actually take bets from people. Being a shittier rec book than all the others with no marketing is an obvious failure.

They are losing steam in Nevada too. I don’t know a single bettor that uses them.

Every time you ask a local if they use SuperBook they’re like “SuperBook??!! MORE LIKE SUPERBITCHES!!” **riotous laughter ensues amongst everyone within earshot**

You aren’t wrong. I think I’ve only been in that book 3x in the last 20 years. Lots of seedy characters dozing off in there too.

I’m pissed it was my best book for baseball only App that offered 10c in NJ for baseball. Paid me but only in person was the drawback
