Suggestion

I've only been on this site for just under two years now. I came here to share my NFL column with the posters and to engage in conversation about football and other sports. I have in these past couple of months wondered into the Players Talk area and found some interesting conversation there in off-topic subjects. Asking about movies or music a person likes helps, I believe, make a board more friendly and helps people sort of feel like they know each other, although they may have never met.
However, there are topics that are started which are of no value to this board. Subjects that speak of pedophelia, that question a person's service to their country or there sexual orientation do nothing for this board or this community of online "friends." Moving these threads to a "Private area" really isn't all that helpful, either, as anyone can access that area.
It is my assertion that topics of this nature simply be deleted. They serve no useful purpose for this board and are detrimental in giving SBR a juvenile and angry appearance.

I came here last Sept. first forum Ive ever been apart of( recently add another to my list) I wondered how stuff like that was handled else were. I think you make a good point but some things you mention would be very ez to see what should go other things might not be so black & white but gray. Not that i don't agree with you but a lot of crying now about being moved i can imagine if it was deleted!!

sportsgirl great suggestion. Even though it is in the private zone now it still creeps me out beyond belief that there is a known Child Molester/Rapist on SBR's website.... One thing for sure if I attend a bash I wont be bringing my younger sister along

I agree with the child molesting type threads being deleted. I too find them appaulling and disturbing. I don't think that anyone can condone this type of behavior or post.

While the other suggestions from sportsgirl are good in theory, they are not practical in reality.

I partake in many juvenile threads but sportsgirl is not immune from partaking and insulting in the same type of manner and sportsgirl is one the more mature posters on the board.

The reality is that there are many young males with too much testosterone on the board. There's no way of preventing these types of posts, yet they can be curtailed in the private room.

Agreed guys in regards to the child molester/rapist stuff.

If I happen to see anything on that subject posted outside the private zone I will move it on site, and in extreme cases may issue an infraction.

It takes real effort to have a Zen garden or golf course. With only minimum effort the weeds take over.

I would agree, and if it were entirely up to me, I'd at least remove some threads/posts them from public view and simply ignore the ignorant who always like to holler about their First Amendment rights when that happens. But in the end, I don't think these posts necessarily reflect poorly on SBR and instead simply expose the angry juveniles.

Willie, I am not an expert on the nature of this forum. I will, however, state that unless I am gravely mistaken, this message board is not run by the government. The owner(s) of this message board are free to censor any material they deem irresponsbile or irrelevant. I will also state that I greatly contribute to the drivel posted here. So if messages such as mine are unwanted, I will gladly leave.

I don't think threads and posts should be removed... If that happens, mods are urged by members to delete half of all the threads made and people become afraid to post...

They always have to wonder if their words will offend people
