This man will be the president in 2016.

The licenses will be issued to the 4 race tracks (Meadowlands, Monmouth, Atlantic City RC, and Freehold) and the AC casinos. What is unknown is if the OTBs such as the ones in Bayonne, Woodbridge, Vineland and Toms River will be eligible to take bets. If they are, that Outerbridge Crossing and Bayonne Bridge will have more New Yorkers on it on Saturdays mornings than a summer shore Saturday or Jewish holiday before sunset.

The Republicans have a lot of good ideas about personal responsibility and smaller government (even though in recent years those cries are total lip service) and if they ever got off their Christian high-horse I'd probably send some support their way.
It has been total lip service for my entire lifetime. I am a libertarian and would probably agree with you on most issues, but I can't stand the myth Republicans are always trying to perpetuate that Reagan was fiscally responsible. He was far from it, and was actually a huge increaser of government.

Neither (99% of) Republicans or Democrats have a leg to stand on in terms of fiscal discipline.

FWIW, I'm a fan of Governor Christie. We're trying to get him on next. It's good to see New Jersey politicians on both sides of the political spectrum work together to not only bring in massive revenue for their state, but also to try to make history in the US. If all goes well, you'd have to think other states follow suit.

Camden is a complete shithole. If you make it through the week without getting robbed, stabbed, shot or set on fire you should get your $100 back

                      Lou,

I agree with you that this would be historic here that this would happen. I do think in years to come other states are going to follow. I am sure that the broke states that need the revenue will be on board. Illinois, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Missouri are all casino states that could follow here on this and is probably looking at this closely.

I am from Missouri and the casinos here are designed to have this in the future and have a race book also. Right now they are sports bars but they have the feel of a sports book though. It can be easily done here and it could be up and running relatively quickly. The casinos aren't stupid. It sure looks like it could be possible but it is a ways off though.

The feds are going to shut this down the minute someone opens for business. The NCAA and other pro leagues will make sure of it.

Good article from May and August talking about the issue. Good luck NJ.

another with loose info on the same topic in regards to having the Superbowl in NJ.
If the NFL should lose its new lawsuit against New Jersey aimed at blocking the state from engaging in gambling on pro football games, the league has another weapon in its arsenal.

Strong work getting someone from the NJ legistlature to talk about it.
I sure hope they pull it off. Bout time the government actually did something that we want.
