I've been comparing baseball odds & they seem to be consistently better than other books. Curious for others thoughts?

#2They should be, they're an "exchange" and these traditionally have the smallest margins.Comment -
#3What do you mean by "exchange"?Comment -
#4You are betting against other players, not a bookmaker.
The odds you see are subject to a commission payable to the exchange.
For Matchbook that is headline 1% but effectively about 2% compared with Betfair's headline 5% on winning trades.
But generally speaking you will be able to get better net odds at an exchange.Comment -
#5think of it as 2-3 cents lower than what you see.
If pinnacle has odds 2.00 and matchbook 2.02, you are better off at Pin.
If matchbook has 2.03, bet on matchbook.Comment -

MB 2.03 = 2.0096
(except soccer handicaps where MB commission is halved so approx 1 cent better)Comment -
#7hareeba did you get this from a matchbook calculator somewhere?Comment -
#8Just a calculator I suspect!
2.02 X 99% , and 2.03 X 99% lolComment -
#9I've set up a spreadsheet I use to compare effective net odds MB v Betfair v Bookies
Not quite as simple as 99% as dealer wins suggests but that's a pretty accurate rough calculation whilst odds remain close to evens.Comment -
#10Yes Hareeba you are right!
2.02 - 1 X99% + 1 as you dont get charged commission on your own stake being returned lolComment -

The general formula for european style odds is
net odd = ( odd - 1 ) * (1 - comission) + 1Comment -
#12Bottom line most of the time they have better juice than anyoneComment
