How does TheGreek settle a tie in a 2-ball golf matchup?
The rules are not clear to me and CS couldn't help. (A 3 ball goes to # of birdies, at Greek but other books just do dead-heat rules.) A 2-ball doesn't say at all whether a push, # birdies or what. Any definite answer. Thanks.

    I should say a 2 ball 18-hole match not a 72 hole tournament match.

If it was a three way market then it's a loss, as the tie wins.

If a 2 way market. I think a 2 player head to head for a round would/should be treated the same way they describe a 3 way with 2 players tied in their examples.

I guess that's why you are querying it? As the rules keep talking about 3 balls and not head to heads?

How did they grade it and how do you think they should have?

Greek only ever offers 2 way markets and any tie is considered a push with full refund of the wager.

They cover the option of 3 way markets in their rules so they either have offered them or retain the option to.

        And can you quote a rule saying "any tie is considered a push with full refund"? I think you are incorrect as this is what it says in bold at the top of their golf rules;

In the event of a tie, (except for Tournament Winner betting), the player with the lowest score in the last round played will be declared the winner. Should there still be a tie between 2 or more players the odds are paid proportionally. This is determined by taking the odds for the bet and adding 1 for the stake. The result is divided by the number of golfers involved in the tie, and then multiplied by the number of winning positions occupied.

And then there are further rules for 3 balls which also do not call a tie a push automatically either.

I took his question to mean that he's asking 'what happens if I bet a head to head match up for a single round and it ends in a tie'.

If that is what he's asking than what i stated is correct. And yes they reserve the right to post 3 way markets but in the 15 years i've been betting golf, Greek has never offered it.

If he's asking about something entirely different than what i think he's asking than he will have to rephrase the question clearer.

That might be the case but as the OP points out the posted rules do not seem 100% clear about a single round matchup tie break. Or can you see something there I'm missing maybe?

Hopefully the OP comes back and lets us know how his bet was graded.

            Golf

            General Golf Betting Rules

            • Bets on a golfer who does not play in the tournament are graded as No Action, and all monies refunded.
            • A golfer is deemed to have played once he or she has teed off. In the event of a player withdrawing after having teed off, bets on that player will be lost.
            • Bets will be settled using the official Tour websites (www.pgatour.com, www.europeantour.com, www.lpga.com etc) .

Rules for specific type of golf bets offered: Win, Top 3-4-5-10, Top Nationality or any other kind of group betting (4 or more players)
            • We offer varying odds for a golfer to Win, Place (Top 3, 4 or 5), Top 10 and numerous types of group betting (Top European, Winner without Tiger Woods, etc) in a tournament.
            • If the golfer does not tee off to start the tournament, the bet will be "No Action" or "Push/Cancel" and all money will be refunded.
            • If player withdrawals constitute 1/5th (20%) or more of original amount of listed players - ALL bets are cancelled.
            • On the odds to win, the "Field" includes all players not offered by name.
            • In the event of a tie, (except for Tournament Winner betting), the player with the lowest score in the last round played will be declared the winner. Should there still be a tie between 2 or more players the odds are paid proportionally. This is determined by taking the odds for the bet and adding 1 for the stake. The result is divided by the number of golfers involved in the tie, and then multiplied by the number of winning positions occupied.
              • i.e. If 3 golf contestants tie for 4th in a tournament the payout would be (1 + odds) divided by 3 [number of contestants tied for 4th] multiplied by 1 [number of winning positions occupied - 4th place only].
              • ie: If 3 golf contestants tie for 3rd in a tournament the payout would be (1 + odds) divided by 3 [number of contestants tied for 3rd] multiplied by 2 [number of winning positions occupied - 3rd and 4th positions].

            • If a tournament does not go the specified number of completed holes (usually 72), and is shortened by the tournament officials, the leader at the end of the number of holes specified by the officials will be the winner, unless there is no further play or only part of a round completed after a bet has been placed, in which case that bet will be canceled. Tournament must go at least 54 holes.

Betting on match-ups between golfers (2 or 3 Players)
            • The winner of the match-ups will be decided by which golfer ends up with the lowest score having played equal rounds. Both golfers must tee off in the tournament or the bet will be "No Action" or "Push/Cancel" and all money will be refunded. If one of the golfers misses the cut, withdraws, or is disqualified during the tournament, the opposing golfer wins the match-up.
            • Often "Tournament" match-ups are updated after each round. These new odds will be for the entire remainder of the tournament including the possible event of a playoff.
            • If a player is disqualified during either the 3rd or 4th rounds, when the other player in the match bet has already missed the cut, the disqualified player will be considered the winner.
            • Settlement will be on the player achieving the highest placing (lowest score) at the end of the tournament. If the number of rounds played is reduced, as in the case of bad weather, bets stand, provided that an official tournament winner is declared.
            • 3-Way match-ups, also known as 3-balls will be decided by the lowest score at the end of the round (18 holes). If a player starts the round and withdraws he is considered a loser but if a player withdraws before the start of the round then all group bets will be cancelled. In the event of starting groups being rearranged, bets will be settled on the original groups.
            • 3-Ball Tie Breakers: Should in the event 2 or more players tie, the player with the most birdies will be declared the winner. If still 2 or more players are tied, only bets on the tied players after use of the 1st tie breaker will be cancelled and monies refunded.
            • To miss/make the cut:
For some tournaments we may offer prices for players to make the cut (take part in the final rounds), or miss the cut (fail to qualify for the final rounds).

            Betting on 2-Way match-ups with a Tie: Player A, Player B, Tie
            • The winner will be decided by the lowest score at the end of the round (18 holes). In the event of a Tie at the end of the round (18 holes) bets made on both players will be a loss, thus making the Tie a winner.

As far as i can tell he's asking how the Greek grades a single round 18 hole matchup that is similar to what appears below.

              Dustin Johnson -130
              Jason Day +110

If they both shoot 68 in the round it is a push and money is refunded. This is based simply on making thousands of these types of bets over a decade plus span and knowing how they grade them. Agreed their rules are not very clear and cover situations that they do not offer to make matters worse. But OP asked how they grade this type of bet and that is how they do it. And if he is asking something different then hopefully he does come back in and clarify.
