    Bad beat......wow
Okay so I have over 1k riding on the total of UCF/FAU game....48-14 & only need 1 more score. 4:30 left in game and lightning was seen within 8 mile radius. RULES say that if no more strikes in 30 minutes the game resumes........how can the 2 teams decide to go ahead and call game off immediately after the 1st strike? I had an easy W and thanks to these 2 teams (who DID NOT FOLLOW RULES 4 COLLEGE FOOTBALL) I don't think I've ever seen this before......looks like 1 of the coaches must have had the under.......SAD...SAD...SAD

And before you degenerates get on here and quote me a rule I know after 55 minutes it's considered final......40 seconds earlier I would have had a N/A instead of a LOSS

The rules allow them to end the game early and agree on the final score.
Suspending the Game ARTICLE 3. a. The referee may suspend the game temporarily when conditions warrant such action. b. When the game is stopped by actions of a person(s) not subject to the rules or for any other reasons not in the rules and cannot continue, the referee shall: 1. Suspend play and direct the players to their team areas. 2. Refer the problem to those responsible for the game’s management. 3. Resume the game when he determines conditions are satisfactory. c. If a game is suspended under Rules 3-3-3-a and b before the end of the fourth period and cannot be resumed, there are four possible options: 1. Resume the game at a later date; 2. Terminate the game with a determined final score; 3. Forfeit of the game; or 4. Declare a no contest. The option that takes effect shall be determined by conference policy if both institutions are members of the same conference. In non-conference competition, the directors of athletics at the participating institutions or their designees, in consultation with the coaches, must agree on one of the four options. This agreement will include the final score if the game is terminated (Rule 8-1-2). d. If a game is suspended under Rules 3-3-3-a and b after four periods of play and cannot be resumed, the game shall be ruled a tie. The final score shall be the score at the end of the last completed period. (Note: If a winner must be determined in a conference playoff game, conference policy shall determine when and where the game will be resumed.) e. A suspended game, if resumed, will begin with the same time remaining and under the identical conditions of down, distance, field position and player eligibility.

4.30 left in game and there had to be another score? Was someone in the red zone when lightening came?

                My condolences, Ant23.

And unfortunately, due to score lopsidedness, neither team had incentive enough to risk lives. (Losing team needed at least 5 quick successful td possessions.)
That right there is the national lightning co-capital, and it is beyond scary. Even inside a building is no guarantee of safety - I've witnessed it both destroy part of a house and strike people inside an office without leaving clue of entry point. It can stretch and / or travel for miles and strike in a clear, sunny area.
The slightest inkling just makes one want to GTF away asap, but it's a helpless feeling seeing the bolt sizes.
Granted, the chance of getting hit is actually small, but that's little comfort while enduring an outbreak. It's like being in war, you're not the same anymore, LOL

Particularly in that area, skies can go from totally clear to pitch black, back to clear and back to black in minutes. You wait out one episode and you still may not finish game before next recurrence.

                Good luck.

JayDr3am. ....no I didn't dodge a bullet. I got shot right in the azz with a 12 gauge!!! Easily the worst bad beat I've had in 20+ years of betting on football. Wonder which coach had the UNDER? Or which family member had the UNDER? I'm only joking but for any "conspiracy theory" guys this would be a good case.

I had something similar happen to me a few years ago. I bet on the over on a Chilean soccer match. The score went well over and I had over $1k bet on it.

Some dumb fan threw a battery at one of the refs and they called the match when there wasn't enough time for the contest to be final.

QuantamLeap.......if I had a battery I would ride down to Florida and throw it at both coaches!!! UCF & FAU coaches have made my 1st weekend of both college & NFL football BAD!!! I normally look forward to the start of NFL season but somehow I keep thinking about the decision to cancel the game last night. Had it been 45 seconds earlier when the lightning struck I would have gotten my $$$ back. Who knows? Maybe it was a sign for me to stick to what I know.....that being MLB!!!

GOOD Luck to y'all during this football season......with that game last night and the stupidity of Antonio Brown yesterday was very unusual.......NE Pats got better and I got shot by a 12 gauge!! Funny......NOT FUNNY

ucf was going to take over 1st down around midfield

obviously you were better off getting the bet cancelled a minute earlier... under was probably the favorite at that point... one first down and they could've just run off the clock

your only hope with the over was a td by ucf, who had no reason to run up the score, even if they got a 30 yard run you were gonna lose

His point was that it didn't get cancelled and counted. The most likely scenario was the clock getting run out anyway, though, and the score remained the same.

I must be missing something here. With 4:30 left and ball at midfield, your bet is 50% AT BEST with the under likely favored. If this is your worst beat in 20 years, then you have lived a very privileged 20 years of gambling because this wouldnt make my top 500 beats. But again, correct me if im missing something.

Ok i think i did misunderstand. The bet was actioned due to the 55 minute rule. Your bet was still likely to lose. Frustrating? Yes. But get outta here with this worst beat ever nonsense. Ive had 5 baseball overs that already WON (over 8.5 in a 7-3 game) cancelled because game didnt go 9. Those are bad beats, yours is just a frustrating inconvenience on a bet you were likely to lose anyway.

lol that bet probably loses over 95% of the time. ucf was just gonna run the clock out. they had to break a 40+ yard run for a td basically. try the byu/tenn under 53. 16-13 and byu completes a 64 yard pass to the tenn 16 with a few seconds left and kicks a field goal for ot.
