    Marathonbet deposit goes missing
    Strange situation here.

I made many Bitocoin deposits before with no issue. Except this time I used a new wallet (Electrum) and mistakenly set the fee to the minimum amount.

Marathon says they never received the deposit and the wallet I sent it to doesn't belong to them.

    Thank you for choosing Marathonbet.

Please be aware, the screenshot that was provided confirmed transfering money on bc1qg7y2u2r70drmaj4qmq09d4wy7telufchu59v rv address which doesn't belong to Marathonbet bitcoin account.

We confirm that the deposit was failed on 05.01.2019 and the funds should be returned to your payment method. If you didn't receive the funds, please provide us the transaction blockchain which shows this transaction has been successful to Marathonbet e-wallet .
The coins were never returned to me. I don't see what other BTC address I could have sent this to. I copied and pasted it from Marathon the same way I always do.

Can someone with more Bitcoin knowledge help me track this down? Here are the transaction details

Blockstream Explorer is an open source block explorer providing detailed blockchain data across Bitcoin, Testnet, and Liquid. Supports Tor and tracking-free.

Why does the reply from Marathon give a date of 05.01.2019? I’m assuming that is January 5th 2020? Doesn’t sound like they have their stuff together. The coins won’t be returned because the transaction confirmed successfully and sending low fees doesn’t matter if it eventually confirms. You’re going to have to prove this is Marathons wallet, but I’m not sure how you can do that. I’m sure a BTC expert can help. You don’t happen to have a screenshot of the QR code from marathon you used when you deposited do you? I never take one but I’ve never experienced something like this.

it almost sounds like Marathon gave you a BTC address they don’t know they have or are unaware of to me. That’s just a guess.

Yes Jan 5th. That's when I made the deposit.

No I didn't take a screenshot. Never had an issue like this with anyone in the past, or even heard of a BTC deposit go missing.

Here's another confusing message they sent me before the one in my post.

Thank you for sending the screenshot. The screenshot evidences the fact that the you sent transaction to the BCH address bc1qg7y2u2r70drmaj4qmq09d4wy7telufchu59vrv.

Unfortunately, Cryptopay doesn't support/process Bitcoin Cash transactions.

Please also kindly note that all Cryptopay wallet addresses start with the number "3".

Please for future investigation contact your payment method support.

It looks like this one is saying that you sent it to a Bitcoin Cash address instead of a Bitcoin address. I'm sure Opti can chime in and help you when he sees this.

Yep, that’s exactly it. They can recover the funds but it will take some work on their end to get to it. Do they offer bitcoin cash as a deposit option? Opti helped someone else here get their funds recovered in a similar fashion.

They do. No way I accidentally used this option because they make you specify a Bitcoin Cash wallet address, which I don't have.

The good news is your funds are there, the bad news is it’s going to take some time and collaboration on their processors end to recover your funds. I wonder why support would say this “Unfortunately, Cryptopay doesn't support/process Bitcoin Cash transactions.” That statement doesn’t make sense if they accept BCH and obviously gave you a BCH address. Sounds like the usual support drivel we are accustomed to.

You have not sent BCH or sent to a BCH wallet address.

When you have installed your Electrum wallet you chose to create it using the newer BENCH32 format for wallets using Native Segwit protocol (wallet addresses start with "bc1"). Instead of the older P2SH format (wallet addresses start with a "3") or a BASE58 format (which starts with "1")

Contact them again and try explaining this and ask if they have a bitcoin tech expert who might be able to help.

Or speak to Cryptopay direct and ask them maybe?

I simply do not know what options exist to fix this myself.

But if you can't sort it out with the book or processor, send in a complaint form and we can ask a manager in there to try and help.

That does not appear correct about only using wallets starting with "3".

Ask them to check this wallet which they own 19rW1dFKYog8WsthwfaghsWAWM7wJioze4

And make a new Electrum wallet using P2SH format.

Not enough people use or understand Native Segwit.

That’s why you make the big bucks Opti! This one was above my pay grade as well as the support staff at Marathonbet, apparently.

Yes that should be enough for them, but they probably want this link to it (as they understand format)

Here is my guess of what has gone on here. In case it helps you in discussions with them.

I think when you pasted the Marathonbet address into your Electrum wallet (which probably started with a 3), it auto converted it to a Native Segwit style address, which I believe is tied to a matching regular address.

If you check that Blockchain link it shows a Native Segwit and a BASE58 address (starts with 1) receiving your deposit. I think they may find that BASE58 address in their records.

I don't know if this makes it retrievable or not. I have not done the research, but maybe you can google for "retrieving BENCH32 lost bitcoin" or something along those lines and see if you can find out more?

Tried googling that but didn't come up with any results. Here's the latest reply from Marathon.

We have received information from a provider, that there is no record that the address/wallet received (34ErEzbtisuLsR7siRQiGUYJQ2upMoKFNM) the transaction with the hash 85c6e916e189d151f3eb67142c3bf426c2a6480ed9823c2675ea0816ddf4257e.

Provider does monitor the change for addresses belonging to BitGo wallets that are in Bech32 format and therefore would have received the transaction should it have been sent to the correct address. It would appear that the conversion of the address that the you have used to send us the funds did not correctly convert our 34ErEzbtisuLsR7siRQiGUYJQ2upMoKFNM address into Bech32.
Where do I go from here?

This is out of my league pun, aside from Opti , you probably won’t find much help here, I suggest trying a bitcoin forum like bitcointalk.org . Just be careful with the information you divulge, people will try to rip you off around every corner. Does the wallet you opened, Electrum, offer any type of support? They may be able to help or at least tell you what happened and if there is a way to fix or recover your funds.

What are the chances you really did not copy the correct send address?

Maybe tell us the steps you went through.

If you send in a Sportsbook Complaint form we can ask a manager at their parent company if they can review and maybe show some goodwill for you.
Low. I can't imagine what other address I could have pasted in there.

I simply copied the address from their bitcoin deposit page and pasted it into the 'Pay to' field on Electrum.

I remember now that when I was chatting with support shortly after I made the deposit (within 24 hrs) they confirmed to me that they see the bitcoin is on its way. How can it be that they're now saying that the address I sent it to doesn't belong to them? Unless they meant that they saw me initiating a bitcoin deposit. I wish I saved that chat.

Will dig around a bit more online and then file out that form if I can't solve this.

Found the coins. This was my mistake.

Good on you for coming back and telling us.

I've thought about this a few times in the last week or so trying to nut out what may have happened.

                                        I'd love to know...

While depositing on Marathon I was also trying to verify an old LocalBitcoins account I haven't used in years. Instead of copy/pasting Marathon's bitcoin address I somehow copied my localbitcoins address.

I checked this wallet soon after I first made the 'deposit' and it was empty. Wallet was empty because I set the lowest fee possible, and the transaction took 48+ hours to process. Checked it again and the coins were there.
