betanysports refusing to delete my account

i've been betting for about 30 years, ever since i was kid. between the pandemic, sports boredom and how books operate in general.. i've been getting tired of it these last couple of years and haven't wagered much. i've basically just been tossing a little action to betanysports after dimes shut down. but anyway, to the point. i decided to close my account there since i'm done with it.

i specifically asked to have it permanently deleted (knowing they would just put it in "suspend" mode, which does absolutely nothing.) that's exactly what they did, and i sent a 2nd request explaining i want the account and my information removed/deleted.

they sent a reply saying they can't, which is nonsense. i told them i do not want my info just sitting on their server and my account still active.. where it can be hacked, shared, saved or is at risk in general. they refuse to do it.

so just a friendly warning to anyone looking to sign up with them for whatever reason. once your account is created and they have your information.. it's just going to sit there for an unknown amount of time, waiting to possibly be breached or abused.

i could have swore other books have told me the same. they don't delete you and just suspend or disable.

definitely not!

a few years ago i had BETUS calling a number i never even knew i had given out. they were also emailing me with my account number (that i hadn't logged into in about 10+ years.) i used the reset password option and was able to log right back in, with all my info as i left it. i was pissed to say the least. in an email they said they were calling me, but i was unavailable. so i used the opportunity to say i didn't know who they were calling, but it wasn't me. i then ragged on them for their past. when they responded they changed and were under new manangement.. i said "then why are you wasting time harrassing me?" the calls and emails stopped right away. wouldn't shock me if the account is still active though.

BETDSI is also another. i never even made a deposit, but received (probably still do) daily emails about 10% off this, 20% bonus for that. they were putting free plays in the account as recent as 2 years ago until i just blocked them. like BETUS, i hadn't logged in for about 10+ years. sure enough though, it was active with my info when i checked it out.

with that said, i did request 2 books (i believe sportsbook.com & bodog-at the time) to permanently close my accounts in the past, and they actually did. when i checked on them down the line, neither had any trace of my info/log in/email/etc. and told me i would have to make another account.

betanysports is refusing to do so for some reason though. i just hope this helps someone who might have been considering signing up out of curiousity or something. it's not worth it unless you really want to play there. because like i said, they're basically keeping you active until they decide not to.. regardless of what you decide.

if it's irrelevant, then list your own personal information here for everyone. email, phone, address, name, etc. there are daily database breaches and disgruntled employees, anywhere and everywhere. i'm not trying to make it easier for them for absolutely NO REASON at all. nor do i want my shit shared down the line with whoever coughs up a few bucks.

Maybe they don't want to erase you as if you chose to re-sign up one day they won't have your history.

It may not apply to you, but if my account had been limited and I could just ask them to erase that info, giving me a chance at a clean start, I'd do it every time.

That would not nearly be the same thing.

Wouldn't being able to completely delete a user account be a fraud risk for the future? Think of how many people could abuse that system by serially breaking rules & terms if they can just have their account deleted at the slightest sign of trouble. It makes sense for companies to want to be able to track who has used their service in the past.

It's not like any time you use your credit or debit card information at any retailer that those retailers aren't doing the same thing. Your information is out there in a thousand different places. The tooth paste is out of the tube dude. Game over. Just move on with your life.

Good point. From the book perspective at least that makes a lot of sense.

Also DXP if it makes you feel any better workers at these places have sold and sent your info all around the globe several times already.

Even if you were completely deleted today it's well too late for your information to disappear.

Of course they won’t delete your info, it would be unreasonable to ask them to, especially from a risk management perspective. Think about it.

If your info in their hands was such a concern, why give it to them in the first place? Consumer info will always be at some risk, but asking the books to increases their own risk to mitigate that is not likely going to work.

i get what people are saying about bonuses, restarting, etc. and i understand that angle. however, others seem to be assuming a little bit as well. i've just casually played there for a few months. i have no limits. there are no chargebacks or issues. i haven't made any withdrawals. i just don't want to wager anymore.

there's no reason to me why my basic info/notes can't be saved offline or private for future reference. that's all i'm saying. for all the shady stuff that can and does go on, i don't want it made easier for my shit to be available. and having a dormant account that basically stays partially open for god knows how long does exactly that.

i know some people like to sign up just to see they layout or options of a book, and never wind up doing anything. i wanted to give a heads up it might not be worth it this time. people are obviously free to agree or disagree with this view.

Exactly this. And if the sportsbook was located in the USA, then they would actually be legally obligated to retain your customer information. This is the way things are in 2021. If you don't want your info out there, you simply can't give it to anyone in the first place.

BAS is the re-creation of 5dimes. Becky, Junior, 'Vince' and all employees and management are still there. Format the same. Payout requests the same. Everything.

We'll never know if Sean William Creighton ACTUALLY died. Or if he didn't want to deal with the feds.

In any case theres no doubt both sites have all your information. And they are keeping it so if they open a 3rd book or something else happens, they have your info on file. Same thing with PayPal. They NEVER delete your information.

What's interesting is that they do not always transfer limit info. from 5D to BAS. I would have guessed same limits would be applied, esp. for accounts with same exact info. (email addr., phys. address).

That's interesting because I thought most people here reported that they quickly got the same limit applied to their BAS account as they had at 5D once they started betting. If that didn't happen to you, my guess is that it's a manual process and you got lucky.
