    Bitpay card dead
    Dear Cardholder,

Thank you for being a valued BitPay Cardholder. Our bank partner, Metropolitan Commercial Bank, and BitPay have decided to discontinue the current BitPay Prepaid ********** program. This decision impacts your current card, including your ability to load and use the card. Please read the following as it contains important dates pertaining to our decision to discontinue the BitPay Card program.

Later this year, we will launch a new BitPay card program with a new bank partner. We will share additional details regarding the new card program, including new features, shortly. These changes will require a short transition period in which your current card will become inactive. As a cardholder, you will automatically be enrolled on the waitlist for the new program.

To be sure that the closure of your card is as convenient for you as possible, please note the following important notices and dates:

Immediately cancel any recurring payments using your card
The last day to add funds to your card will be June 1st, 2023
The last day to spend with your card or access an ATM with your card will be June 15th, 2023

We encourage you to spend as much of your balance as possible by June 15, 2023. As of June 30th, 2023, any remaining balances on your card will be sent via check to the current physical address associated with your BitPay Card within 30 days. If you have changed addresses since your initial enrollment or to confirm your current address, please call 1-855-398-1373 to update as soon as possible. We are available Monday through Sunday 10 AM to 8 PM ET.

Please see the Terms and Conditions for this card program to reference any fees that may be applicable. We are grateful for your support. If you have any questions about how this transition will affect you, please do not hesitate to contact us at 1-855-398-1373. We are available Monday through Sunday from 10 AM to 8 PM ET.

    Regards,

    BitPay

Go with Crypto.com debit card. Way better than bitpay.. You can top up the card with various crypto(litecoin included) and not just Bitcoin.

They are looking for a new bank to partner so I think it will be back up again. Doesn't Crypto send you a form if you receive and cash out more than $600 per year? Any other alternative cards available besides these two?

I believe that rule is for cashapp when someone else sends you money but not when you send your own money into the card. I’ve never received any form and I’ve had the card for years.

They have also delayed the $600 rule until further notice at least until 2024. If Republicans take office in 2024, they will kill this rule. It is a reporting nightmare.

Taxpayers who use Cash App, Venmo and similar payment apps have been given another reprieve from a change that will require more reporting to the IRS. App users are currently required to report payments if they’re in the tens of thousands of dollars, and if numerous transactions are completed dur

Thanks for the tip on crypto.com. That bites about Bitpay and they're giving us, what, a whole 3 week warning until X day?

If anybody knows any other options, it'd be good to hear them as well.

Metropolitan bank is no longer involved in crypto. I think that Bitpay will find another bank.

Agree with wombat on crypto.com. I just got a Wirex card but haven't tried it yet.

                      Crypto research input

                      Hello all,

I am a student at MIT looking into new crypto card technology. Some goals of my research would be to allow users to use any wallet (not locked into a single exchange like the coinbase card) and to not require preloading crypto (like the bitpay card requires). I was hoping to get some input on if this is something that could be useful to you and how you use crypto cards? Are there any features you wish you could have in a crypto card? Is this a system you would switch to from your current one, if not, why?

It will be a game changer if you can create a card that can be loaded with crypto and not tied to any exchange.

You don't even have to invent anything. Just make Bitpay with better customer service and you'll make bank.

I haven't seen anything new from bitpay on a replacment card so I'm looking for an alternate. What is the best go to debit card for ATM withdraws and no IRS reporting.
