    Fairlay Does Anyone Know How the Bets For/Against Work?
    so I deposited 1k and before I did I asked the support chat how the green and red boxes work.

    I just lost 200 because I asked which runner is the green and red boxes are for. I was told the first runner the home team was for the green box and the red was for the other runner.

    Now it seems that there is only one runner, the line to the far right and the green box is for that and the red is the opposite. So the first runner(home team/line to the far left) is completely useless. Can anyone confirm this? If so what is the first runner for, besides confusing people?

    Green = Yes/On/Back
    Red = No/Against/Lay

    So in the example, below, Green = "Yes, Titans win" and Red = "No, Titans don't win" (i.e. Texans win). This on/against or back/lay construct is a natural characteristic of all betting exchanges. They could enable green/red on the Texans runner line as well, but that would effectively just be the opposite. In fact, sometimes you'll actually see this at PredictIt. For example, they might have a market "Who Wins the Election" with runners of Democrats Yes/No and Republicans Yes/No. In this case, you can get double your money down on Democrats if you so choose (PredictIt has an $850 max bet so this would make it $1700).

      yah, thanks for the clarification, but there is another line to the left of the picture you showed, it normally says home team. I was told by them that the green box was for that line and the line you showed was for the red box. I am not sure why they have the other line in there at all. It should just be the line you showed green for back, red for opposite but that superfluous line is just there to confuse people. Anyway thanks for the help

        Can you show me what you're referring to? I'm not seeing this anywhere.

          It's not you.

          Most non-intuitive exchange interface ever made.

          And many people have trouble understanding it at first.

          Persevere as it works well once you get it and is probably the best US facing exchange there is for now.

            yes, in the white area above the match ending in line it says "home team -.5" on the list once you have searched all those lines are on the left side with the opposite line +.5 on the right side. I was told the green was for the first runner, which is wrong. The home team is pointless and shouldn't even be there. Only the line on the right should be there with for/against otherwise it's confusing.

            I think I have the hang but it's annoying to be on the right side and click a wrong button and lose money. It should definitely be more intuitive as option stated and I also agree that I can get way better pricing especially getting a more favorable line for second half and maybe lives. Thanks guys

              Oh that. I was looking for something else green or red. My mistake.

                The market maker is either Pinnacle or has a script to bet into Pinnacle instantaneously because as soon as you take something there, Pinnacle line moves at the exact same time.

                If you put up an offer, the market maker immediately pulls down their available bids or Pinnacle will move the number just based off your offer.

                Your offer can and will sit there forever without a bite unless the number moves against you.

                No one is actually trading there.

                It's useful if you have limits cut or no access to Pinnacle, but that's about it.

                I wish it was an actual exchange.

                Matchbook was the greatest, back in the day, when available in the US.

                  Being able to move a Pinny line sounds like it could be useful

                    Thank you, Opti. Haven't played at Fairlay in years, but I do remember there being a learning curve.

                    Loved their lines, once you figure out the Bet ON vs Anti. Juice is very reasonable.

                    I seem to recall that the heavily bet events (like NFL) would create very tight straddles, so the juice was even lower. Not sure if it's still like that.
                    Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

                      very disappointing that fairlay did not improve their sportsbook and move it forward a bit.
