Bovada closes accounts of Maryland players
Bovada closes accounts of Maryland players

Bovada (SBR rating A) has closed the accounts of players residing in Maryland. Players will be paid their balances in full. Bovada management tells SBR that they are communicating through email and telephone to impacted players.

On February 27th, SBR reported that Bodog was the latest sportsbook to have a ".com" domain confiscated. A federal indictment was unsealed by the U.S. attorney's office in Baltimore, naming alleged Bodog executives on charges of unlawful gambling.

Before year's end, SBR reported that the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group's brand licensing agreement expired with the Bodog Brand. As a result, MMGG rebranded their sportsbook as Bovada. No Bodog brand licensee currently serves the US market.

Maryland players with feedback are asked to write to SBR.

If I lived in Maryland I would start a riot...not over Bovada but the tyrants in office oppressing the people's rights to gamble.

Actually now that I think about it those tyrants in Maryland have affected all of our rights to gamble online..riot

It is possible that Calvin Ayre has been arrested somewhere. He seems to have dropped out of sight on his blog or website or whatever that thing is with him looking down at his suit, or something. Right after the indictments, he was running his face there and talking tough, which wasn't the wisest thing to do. Now he has disappeared.

If they have him in custody, it would be wise to have Bovada withdraw from Maryland, as nobody falls for the Bovada/Bodog shell game. Hard to negotiate less than 20 hard time when you keep breaking the law there.

However, its the feds that have him, if they do, so it wouldn't be any wiser to keep on anywhere else in the US.

Bovada no longer allows new players from new york, utah and washington state

not sure if its been posted

Bovada contacted players in Maryland yesterday to tell them that their accounts would be closed effective immediately. Bovada stopped doing business with players in the state. Players were told that they would have their cashouts processed as soon as possible. While there was no doubt about the status of Maryland players, there was some confusion about the status of players in other states. Since Bovada has not made an official announcement, players and the poker media were forced to investigate on their own.

Last week, there were some articles posted that stated Bovada was banning players from Maryland, New York, Utah and Washington. It turned out it was just one of their processors known as *********, and it also seemed to only affect Maryland players. It turned out in the end that those articles would be somewhat true. While Maryland players were banned, new players in New York, Utah and Washington State are no longer accepted. If a player chooses one of those states from the drop down box, they receive an error stating players in that state can not register.

With Bovada no longer accepting new Washington residents, there are now no choices for online poker for players in that state unless they have a grandfathered in account. The situation in Maryland is almost as bad, as Cake Poker and a handful of skins are the only choice for Maryland residents.

We will be compiling a list of all U.S. friendly sites and what states they do not accept in the near future. This post will detail each room, and what may have lead to the decision to stop taking players in those states.

Good. Illegal gambling profits are used to fund terrorism, and launder money for terrorists. Additionally, illegal gambling is strictly forbidden by The Bible, and was specifically made illegal by the Founding Forfathers whom were against anything that poses a threat to American Freedom.

If people in Maryland, New York, Utah and Washington want to gamble at Bovada, they are free to move to France.

Support your local organized crime family

No reason for families in Costa Rica to be able to put food on their tables when the mafia should clearly be the ones who are profiting and not paying taxes from this industry.
