bet365 Opens US Headquarters in Denver
One of our best sports betting sites has set some roots in the United States. UK-based bet365 has opened US headquarters, settling in Denver.
The legal Colorado sports betting market is one of the largest in the country. Home to 16 of the country's biggest online sports betting sites, the presence of some of the biggest names in the industry has resulted in smaller operations being forced to close up shop at a rapid pace.
Betfred, Clutchbet, Betsafe, and, most recently, SI Sportsbook have all announced during the last month they'd be leaving the Centennial State.
But with Colorado sports betting apps paying some of the lowest tax rates in the country, it's far from all doom and gloom.
The headquarters
bet365's announcement that it would be opening headquarters in Denver was met with positive reviews from local government officials. The headquarters are anticipated to bring upward of 1,000 jobs to the state, including 300 this year. It's expected to handle customer service, marketing, human resources, recruitment, and legal department jobs, as well as software development and trader jobs.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said during the announcement of the headquarters opening: "We are confident they will quickly find that our great state is the best place to live, work and do business."
He also praised bet365 for providing Coloradans an opportunity to support their families with good playing jobs.
The venue will be conveniently located downtown, within a 10-minute drive of Coors Field (home of the Colorado Rockies), Ball Arena (Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche), and Empower Field at Mile Hight (Denver Broncos).
bet365
Colorado announced that just north of $14 million will be put toward the company over an eight-year period via a Job Growth Incentive Tax Credit, which will aide in its expansion to 1,000 jobs.
"The Mile High City and its thriving business community is the ideal location to launch the next chapter in our company’s future," a spokesperson for the sportsbook said.
It's not just a US headquarters in bet365's expansion, as it's been launching in additional markets and signing top-end partnerships. Back in July, the global sports-betting behemoth entered its 11th state when it launched in Pennsylvania; later in the summer, it was tabbed as the UEFA Champions League's first official sports-betting partner.
It's also been in some trouble. In August, it was ordered to pay back over half a million dollars to bettors in New Jersey after illegally changing the odds on accepted wagers without permission. It nearly ran into the same position again before reversing course over some Jordan Mason bets at the beginning of the NFL season.
