Colorado Casino Profit Rises 4.1% Month-on-Month in February

It will be a little while before we find out how our best sports betting sites did in Colorado in February, but news from the legal casino industry has been delivered.
With revenue from Colorado sports betting operators yet to be released, casino revenue has had a successful month compared to January's figures, with total assorted gross profit (AGP) rising from $80.9 million to $84.2 million in February.
The Colorado Department of Revenue regulates 33 licensed commercial casinos and reports the revenue from three regions in the Centennial State: Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek. Out of total AGP, slot games generated $72 million in February, rising from $66.5 million in January, and table games produced $12.1 million, declining from $14.4 million reported the previous month.
Black Hawk was the region that generated the highest casino profit for the month, reporting $53.2 million in slot game AGP, a month-on-month rise from $49 million, and $11 million in table game AGP, a month-on-month decline from $13.4 million.
Following this, Cripple Creek casinos produced $14.5 million in total AGP, rising from $12.7 million reported in January 2025. Of this, slot game AGP yielded $13.5 million, and table games generated $1 million in AGP.
Finally, Central City generated the lowest AGP out of the three regions, reporting $5.5 million in profit, a month-on-month decline from $5.6 million. Central City slot games generated $5.4 million in AGP, while table games produced $97,440.
Black Hawk opposed to online casinos
In recent news, Black Hawk City Council is the first American municipality to join the National Association Against iGaming (NAAiG). The move comes after NAAiG Vice Chair Jason Gumer presented how real-money online casinos negatively impact land-based casinos.
Gummer said, “If iGaming comes, you will not see another casino opened, brick and mortar, again. You’re not going to see companies like Monarch [Monarch Casino], who have invested hundreds of millions of dollars to build new properties, to grow jobs. It’s going to stop.”
While online sports betting has spread across most of the US, online casinos have faced a much harder road to legalization. Only seven US states legalize online casinos, with Rhode Island being the most recent jurisdiction to do so.
However, that hasn’t stopped lawmakers from trying. Illinois lawmakers decided to table a bill to legalize online casinos in 2025 and introduced SB 2499 in February 2025. However, this bill hasn’t made any significant progress. Other states that have introduced online casino legislation in 2025 include Arkansas and Maryland.
With Colorado land-based casinos still showing growth and the economic downsides put forward by the NAAiG, it may be some time before the Centennial State pushes through a successful online casino bill.
