Seahawks vs 49ers Preview  

The San Francisco 49ers (13-4) carry a 10-game winning streak into the first round of the playoffs against the Seattle Seahawks (9-8). The Seahawks (+385) will look to avoid a third loss to the 49ers (-500) this season and come in at 9.5-point underdogs with the total set at 42.

Since acquiring superstar running back Christian McCaffrey San Francisco holds a 10-1 record, dropping only one game to the AFC first-seed Kansas City Chiefs. Head coach Kyle Shanahan deserves credit for persevering throughout the season and adjusting his offense to three different quarterbacks. Brock Purdy — the final pick in last year’s draft — is now the team’s starting QB and has all the offensive weapons he can imagine at his disposal.

Seattle Seahawks 

Seattle making the playoffs after trading Russell Wilson this past offseason will come as a shock to many. First-year RB Kenneth Walker III is the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, while Geno Smith has the fifth-best passer rating amongst QBs with weapons like D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Locket at his disposal. San Francisco’s defense ranks first in total yards allowed this season and is excellent at stopping the run, so Seattle will look to exploit a passing defense that ranks 20th in yards allowed.

This will be the second time these two teams have matched up in the playoffs. The Seahawks defeated the 49ers 23-17 in 2014, going on to win their first Super Bowl in franchise history. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Eastern time.
